TL;DR: In this paper, the authors sequenced tau in FTDP-17 families and identified three missense mutations (G272V, P301L and R406W) and three mutations in the 5' splice site of exon in

Rare Variants in APP, PSEN1 and PSEN2 Increase Risk for AD in Late-Onset Alzheimer's Disease Families
Carlos Cruchaga,Sumitra Chakraverty,Kevin Mayo,Francesco Vallania,Robi D. Mitra,Kelley Faber,Jennifer Williamson,Thomas D. Bird,Ramon Diaz-Arrastia,Tatiana Foroud,Bradley F. Boeve,Neill R. Graff-Radford,Pamela L. St. Jean,Michael J. Lawson,Margaret G. Ehm,Richard Mayeux,Alison Goate +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that rare variants in these genes could explain an important proportion of genetic heritability of AD, which is not detected by GWAS.
Mutation, sequence analysis, and association studies of α-synuclein in Parkinson's disease
A. Parsian,Brad A. Racette,Z. H. Zhang,Sumitra Chakraverty,Melissa M. Rundle,A. Goate,Joel S. Perlmutter +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that variation within the α-synuclein gene does not play a significant role in the risk for PD in a sample of familial cases of PD.

No association between polymorphisms in the human dopamine D3 and D4 receptors genes and alcoholism.
TL;DR: Any role played by these receptors may account for only part of the variation in susceptibility to alcoholism, and relative risk and haplotype relative risk approaches were negative for both genes.
