TL;DR: The food bank industry continues to expand despite there being little evidence that food banks are an appropriate response for those facing food insecurity, and the results of this review indicate that although participants value the service provided by the food bank, the experience can be largely negative.

TL;DR: The idea that many people in Australia may not have adequate access to "sufficient food for an active and healthy life" is starting to be seriously considered by nutritionists as mentioned in this paper, and food insecurity as a consequence of limited resources exists in Australia at a level likely to be over 5% of the general population and much higher among groups at risk.
