Human mobility prediction from region functions with taxi trajectories.
TL;DR: A linear regression model is established to predict the traffic flows of Beijing based on the input referred to as bag of POIs and it is found that the average prediction precision is over 74% and each type of POI contributes differently in the predictor, which accounts for what factors and how such region functions attract people visiting.
Discovering urban mobility patterns with PageRank based traffic modeling and prediction
TL;DR: It is found that for most regions, there exists a linear relation between the traffic congestion measure at present time and the PageRank value of the last time, implying that the traffic state of a local region does not evolve independently but is affected by the evolution of the whole network.

TL;DR: A new methodology based on sparse representation is proposed to detect the relevant sensors for traffic flow prediction at a given sensor and performs remarkably better than the least square fitting and the local spatial context based methods.

Spatiotemporal Context Awareness for Urban Traffic Modeling and Prediction: Sparse Representation Based Variable Selection.
TL;DR: A new methodology based on sparse representation is proposed to reveal the spatial-temporal dependencies among traffic flows so as to simplify the correlations among traffic data for the prediction task at a given sensor.
