Small businesses play a crucial role in the growth and development of economies worldwide. However, they face competition while focusing on the local markets, this puts a tremendous amount of pressure on SMEs to adopt new technology and transform towards digitalization in order to achieve competitive advantages and realize the desired economic growth and development. The need for such role is more needed in the least developed countries (LDC), due to the resources gap they are experiencing. This paper attempts to gain insight into the digitalization of the business process in Yemen through reviewing the literature for the potentials of the SMEs sector to digitalize in a sufficient manner that leads to achieving economic growth and development. The findings indicate that the sector of SMEs in Yemen has its ups and downs which can be attributed to the recent economic and political instability, moreover, initiatives are continuously put into practice which lack the required support in order to thrive into development and growth achievements.

Moving towards Digitalization in Small and Medium Enterprises in Least Developed Countries, Review of the case of Yemen

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the e-commerce ecosystem in Yemen, identifying key opportunities and impacting factors to growth, and suggesting suitable strategies for e-commerce startups. The study employs an integrated methodical approach, combining a literature review, and data analysis using Grey Analytic Hierarchy Process (Grey AHP) and Grey Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (Grey TOPSIS). The literature review identifies opportunities, challenges, and strategic solutions. The Grey AHP assesses the relative importance of opportunities and challenges. The Grey TOPSIS ranks the best strategies that e-commerce startups in Yemen can adopt to leverage these opportunities and manage the negative effects of the barriers. The results show that large market potential, the underserved market, and the growing middle class represent the most significant opportunities. In contrast, economic and political instability, logistical challenges, and the lack of trust in online payments are the most significant impacting factors. To overcome these challenges, the top three strategies recommended are building strategic partnerships, offering secure payment and delivery options, and targeting the underserved market. By implementing these strategies, the e-commerce ecosystem in Yemen can prosper, take advantage of opportunities, and contribute to the country’s economic development.

Unlocking the Potential of E-Commerce in Yemen: Identifying Key Impacting Factors and Exploring Strategic Solutions

E-government research is receiving great attention on a global level. Some researchers tend to explore e-government research within a certain scope. The current study aimed in exploring e-government research in Yemen. The study resulted in finding 41 published studies. The study surveyed the goals and results of the published researches and discussed their progress. In addition, topics related to e-government research that were not studied in Yemen were identified. Finally, the study presented the necessary recommendations from the identified published papers, as well as the suggestions that were put forward in researches similar to the goal of current research.

Yemen E-government Research Landscape: An in-depth study on the trends of published research

The purpose of the study is to assess the e-business mode of the private universities in Pangasinan, Philippines and Karachi City, Pakistan. Specifically, it sought to find out the following: the profile of the websites of the private universities in Pangasinan, Philippines and Karachi, Pakistan in terms of technical aspects, services offered and website contents and its features; the level of e-business mode of these universities; and what can be evolved to address their stakeholders' needs for a more effective online business transaction. Descriptive method of research was utilized in this study. With the use of a documents and data analysis as data gathering tools, this study identified the e-business mode of the selected universities and suggested that these universities should level-up to assimilating mode to better serve their stakeholders. Based on the findings made, the followings conclusions were drawn: the status of e-business mode of private universities in Pangasinan and Karachi in terms of technical aspects is of the same level; when it comes to services offered, the ten universities offered the same services; in terms of website contents and features, it varies, but the basic features are present to the ten universities. In general, it can be concluded that the e-business mode of private universities in Pangasinan and Karachi falls under the same level, supporting mode level. It is recommended that the selected universities in Pangasinan and Karachi should upgrade their e-business mode to assimilating mode to better serve their stakeholders.

Assessment of e-Business Mode of Selected Private Universities in the Philippines and Pakistan

This study aimed to highlight the challenges and difficulties that face micro small and medium enterprises MSMEs on inhibiting from contributing to developing the Yemies economy and to know the impact of the successive crises and conflict on MSMEs. Through a review of the literature and previous studies in this regard, it was possible to summarize the most critical problems facing MSMEs in Yemen, which could be difficulties like getting funds, poor infrastructure, corruption, difficulties in securing raw materials, lack of skilled employees, and also difficulties to get Licensing and the absence of a specific SMEs authority.

This paper aims to measure the e-business adoption activities in Yemeni SMEs as well as investigate the benefit and barriers of using e-business in SMEs in developing countries such as Yemen. The paper employed a mixed method (quantitative and qualitative) case approach. The paper integrated different methods in order to facilitate a deep understanding of the adoption level of e-business in SMEs in. Firstly, semi-structured interviews conducted with SMEs’ managers. Secondly, a survey questionnaire used to generalise and verify the findings from stage 1 to the SEMs population. . About (23.5%) of SMEs have employees between 1-9 and (76.5%) of SMEs have employees between 10 and 49, therefore the majority of them were medium firms. In addition, about 51% of the SMEs have been established for 10 years and below, and 49% were above10 years. The results indicate that the Yemeni SMEs are at the early stages of e-business adoption. It also indicates factors that deter Yemeni SMEs from the adoption of E-business.
