A method for authenticating a device to a network using a device certificate is described. The method includes generating a private-public key pair on a system-on-chip (SoC) of the device. The private key is protected by a hardware-based root of trust of the SoC. The method also includes generating a device certificate that is signed using the private key. The method further includes using the device certificate to gain access to the network.

Certificate provisioning for authentication to a network

Methods are provided for authenticating user authentication data, associated with a user ID, at an authentication system. The authentication system comprises an authentication server connected to a network, and a secure cryptoprocessor operatively coupled to the authentication server. A first token for the user ID is provided in data storage operatively coupled to the authentication server. The first token is produced by the secure cryptoprocessor by encoding the user authentication data associated with the user ID via an encoding process dependent on a secret key of the secure cryptoprocessor. The authentication server receives an authentication request for the user ID from a remote computer via the network. The authentication request comprises a ciphertext encrypting user authentication data under a public key of a first public-private key pair, the private key of which is secret to the secure cryptoprocessor. The authentication server supplies the ciphertext to the secure cryptoprocessor which decrypts the ciphertext using this private key to obtain plaintext user authentication data. The authentication server retrieves the first token for the user ID from the data storage. The authentication system checks for equality of the plaintext user authentication data and the user authentication data encoded in the first token via a cryptographic processing operation in which the authentication data is not exposed outside the secure cryptoprocessor. In response to such equality, the authentication server sends an authentication confirmation message to the remote computer via the network.

The invention discloses an embedded system code attack-oriented quick recovery method The method comprises the following steps of 1, compiling a source program to generate a target code; 2, segmenting the target code into program basic blocks; 3, taking the program basic blocks as feature parameters of pre-extraction; 4, writing the feature parameters into a storage unit; 5, resetting a system; 6, recording the current program basic block address and carrying out zero clearing; 7, executing the current program basic block; 8, dynamically calculating a feature parameter of the current program basic block, and comparing the feature parameter with the current program basic block feature parameter pre-extracted in a feature parameter storage unit in a process; 9, if the feature parameter is consistent with the current program basic block feature parameter, carrying out backup and skipping to the next program basic block to execute the step 6, and otherwise, executing the step 10; and 10, if the abnormity number is less than a recovery granularity adjustment threshold value, adding 1 to the abnormity number and skipping to the current program basic block address to execute the step 7, and otherwise, executing the step 5 Through above steps, the method can be used for effectively detecting the embedded system code attacks and rapidly recovering the detected code attacks

Embedded system code attack-oriented quick recovery method

Program code attestation circuitry and a method of operating such circuitry are provided. The program code attestation circuitry includes first storage, and measurement value generation circuitry that is arranged to store within that first storage a measurement value that is determined by applying a first hash algorithm to input data determined from a code block of the program code. Within a second storage a private key is stored. Further, signature generator circuitry is responsive to an attestation request from a request source external to the program code attestation circuitry to apply, to a derived value derived from the measurement value, a signature algorithm using the private key, in order to generate a signature for output to the request source. From this signature, the request source can then derive information about the stored measurement value sufficient to enable it to ascertain whether that stored measurement value agrees with an expected measurement value for the code block in question. This provides a simple and secure mechanism for attesting as to the correctness of code blocks of program code within a data processing apparatus.
