This paper presents the initial design of the engineering entrepreneurship curriculum for the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. The methods for design, components of the curriculum and how the curriculum is interwoven with mainstream engineering disciplines at Olin College are described. The major elements of the curriculum that is being planned include: (1) a set of modules for learning the basics of entrepreneurship, (2) interaction with several on-campus and distributed hatcheries, (3) a set of in-depth learning interactions (projects, modules, courses) that provide depth of knowledge in engineering entrepreneurship and (4) capstone experiences in entrepreneurship during the sophomore year and the final year of the undergraduate curriculum. New courses/modules specifically targeted on technology entrepreneurship are being designed between Babson College and Olin College. Babson College’s number one ranking in entrepreneurship is being fully leveraged by joint appointments of faculty, cross registrations between Olin and Babson and the initiation of many projects between the two schools designed to create the premier engineering/technology entrepreneurship curriculum in the world.

It examines the theory and practice of action learning and uses a search of the literature to determine the key elements that define the method. It then explores the use of action learning in Australian MBA programmes searching for an increased understanding of how the method is taught and applied. The intent of the research was to reveal the essence of what the method involves, how action learning is being taught and how it is used for the education and development of managers.

The research involved interviewing Australian MBA directors and those involved with introducing action learning into MBA programmes. The results confirmed much of what had been reported in the literature and highlighted the variety of interpretations of what was reported as being ‘action learning’. Managers at NPD departments of Taiwan consumer electronic industry were interviewed to explore the effects innovation strategy (IS) has on design strategy (DS) and finally on product design characteristics (DC). The fitness of theoretical models and the observed data was examined. A questionnaire survey was conducted. 1300 enterprises in Taiwanconsumer electronic industry were randomly selected as the survey pool. At last, 370 effective questionnaires were collected. Their responses on the questionnaires were analyzed to test the fitness of the model with structural equation modeling analysis (SEM). A proper fitness was found for the correlation theoretical model of IS, DS, DC, and the observed data. In enterprises, IS will influence product DC, and at the same time, IS will influence product DC through DS. Among these three variables, DS serves as an independent variable and intervene variable to DC.
