The reactions of [tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl]silicon halides and hydrides with electrophilic reagents☆
TL;DR: In this paper, a study was made of the reactions of compounds of the type (Me3Si)3CSiR2X (e.g. with AgNO3i-PrOH-MeOH, a mixture of products, with Y = NO3, OMe or OPri is formed), while the compounds TsiSiR2I with R2 = Et2, PhMe, or EtMe give both rearranged products, (Me 3Si)2CH(SiMe2Y) and unrearranged

Preparation of tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl (“trisyl”) derivatives of silicon
Sujan S. Dua,Colin Eaborn,Duncan A.R. Harper,Steven P. Hopper,Kazem D. Safa,David R. M. Walton +5 more
TL;DR: The trisyl group causes very large steric hindrance to nucleophilic displacements at the silicon to which it is attached, so that (unless one or more hydride ligands are present) most of the common displacement at silicon do not occur as discussed by the authors.

Stable sunscreen composition containing dibenzoylmethane derivative, e.g., parsol 1789, and c12, c16, c18 branched chain hydroxybenzoate and/or c12, c16 branched chain benzoate stabilizers/solubilizers

TL;DR: A sunscreen composition containing a UV-A dibenzoylmethane derivative, such as 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4'-methoxydibenzymethane (PARSOL® 1789), and a stabilizer/solubilizer for the DBS derivative having formula (I): ##STR1## These long branched chain alkyl salicylates having a C 4 branch at the 2 position are quite effective in stabilizing the dBS derivative UV-B filter compounds making them more effective
