Removal of chemical contaminants from water to below USEPA MCL using fiber glass supported activated carbon filters.
Zhongren Yue,Christian L. Mangun,James Economy,Patricia A. Kemme,Donald M. Cropek,Stephen Maloney +5 more
TL;DR: A new, low-cost fiber glass supported activated carbon filter has been prepared that displays enhanced adsorption characteristics for the removal of BTEX from water to below maximum contaminant level (MCL) regulated by USEPA and two chemical warfare agent simulants to barely detectable levels.

Adsorption of Organic Contaminants from Water Using Tailored ACFs
Christian L. Mangun,Zhongren Yue,James Economy,Stephen Maloney,Patricia A. Kemme,Donald M. Cropek +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, six activated carbon fibers (ACFs) with different chemical and physical properties were prepared by first curing a phenolic resin-coated glass fiber, followed by activation and post-treatment.
Transformation of trace organic compounds in drinking water by enzymic oxidative coupling.
TL;DR: The results indicate that enzymatic oxidative coupling using horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen perioxide may be useful in eliminating some aromatics that are not well-removed in biological or physical water treatment, but the nature of the byproducts must be determined to assure that the products are not more undesirable than the initial compounds.
