Transcription-induced Chromatin Remodeling at the c-myc Gene Involves the Local Exchange of Histone H2A.Z
TL;DR: This work reports that elongating RNA polymerase II complexes encounter distinct chromatin landscapes that are marked by methylation of lysine residues Lys4, Lys79, and Lys36 of histone H3, and suggests a new model in which the incorporation of H2A.Z into nucleosomes down-regulates transcription; at the same time it may act as a cellular memory for transcriptionally poised gene domains.

Small Left Ventricular Size Is an Independent Risk Factor for Ventricular Assist Device Thrombosis.
Venkat Keshav Chivukula,Jennifer A. Beckman,Anthony R. Prisco,Shin Lin,Todd F. Dardas,Richard Cheng,Stephen D. Farris,Jason W. Smith,Nahush A. Mokadam,Claudius Mahr,Alberto Aliseda +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that small LV size, rather than decreased VAD speed, is the primary pathologic mechanism responsible for the increased incidence of thrombosis observed in VAD patients with small LVs.

Mechanisms of Bone Marrow-Derived Cell Therapy in Ischemic Cardiomyopathy with Left Ventricular Assist Device Bridge to Transplant
April Stempien-Otero,Deri Helterline,Tabitha Plummer,Stephen D. Farris,Andrew F Prouse,Nayak L. Polissar,Derek C. Stanford,Nahush A. Mokadam +7 more
TL;DR: Tissue analysis does not support the hypothesis that bone marrow-derived CD34+ cells promote increased vascular tissue in humans with ischemic cardiomyopathy via direct injection.

Level of Macrophage uPA Expression Is an Important Determinant of Atherosclerotic Lesion Growth in Apoe −/− Mice
Ranjini M. Krishnan,Michal Kremen,Jie Hong Hu,Isaac Emery,Stephen D. Farris,Katherine I. Slezicki,Talyn Chu,Liang Du,Helén L. Dichek,David A. Dichek +9 more
TL;DR: The level of uPA expression by macrophages—over a broad range—is an important determinant of atherosclerotic lesion growth in Apoe−/− mice.

Accuracy of Doppler blood pressure measurement in continuous-flow left ventricular assist device patients.
Song Li,Jennifer A. Beckman,Nathan G. Welch,Jason Bjelkengren,Sofia Carolina Masri,Elina Minami,April Stempien-Otero,Wayne C. Levy,Kevin D. O'Brien,Shin Lin,Stephen D. Farris,Richard Cheng,Gregory Wood,Kevin J. Koomalsingh,James N. Kirkpatrick,James M. McCabe,Peter J. Leary,Fanette Chassagne,Venkat Keshav Chivukula,Alberto Aliseda,Claudius Mahr +20 more
TL;DR: This study assesses the accuracy of the Doppler opening pressure method compared with the gold standard arterial line method in CF‐VAD patients.
