Effect of Postextubation High-Flow Nasal Oxygen With Noninvasive Ventilation vs High-Flow Nasal Oxygen Alone on Reintubation Among Patients at High Risk of Extubation Failure: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Arnaud W. Thille,Grégoire Muller,Arnaud Gacouin,Rémi Coudroy,Maxens Decavèle,Romain Sonneville,François Beloncle,Christophe Girault,Laurence Dangers,Alexandre Lautrette,Séverin Cabasson,Anahita Rouzé,Emmanuel Vivier,Anthony Le Meur,Jean-Damien Ricard,Keyvan Razazi,Guillaume Barberet,Christine Lebert,Stephan Ehrmann,Caroline Sabatier,Jeremy Bourenne,Gael Pradel,Pierre Bailly,Nicolas Terzi,Jean Dellamonica,Guillaume Lacave,Pierre-Eric Danin,Hodanou Nanadoumgar,Aude Gibelin,Lassane Zanre,Nicolas Deye,Alexandre Demoule,Adel Maamar,Mai-Anh Nay,René Robert,Stéphanie Ragot,Jean-Pierre Frat +36 more
TL;DR: In mechanically ventilated patients at high risk of extubation failure, the use of high-flow nasal oxygen with NIV immediately afterextubation significantly decreased the risk of reintubation compared with high- flow nasal oxygen alone.
Non-invasive ventilation versus high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy with apnoeic oxygenation for preoxygenation before intubation of patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure: a randomised, multicentre, open-label trial

TL;DR: In patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure, preoxygenation with non-invasive ventilation or high-flow oxygen therapy did not change the risk of severe Hypoxaemia and future research should explore the effect of pre oxygengenation method in patients with moderate-to-severe hypoxAemia at baseline.

Intra-tracheal amikacin spray delivery in healthy mechanically ventilated piglets.
Antoine Guillon,François Darrouzain,Nathalie Heuzé-Vourc'h,Antoine Petitcollin,Céline Barc,Laurent Vecellio,Bénédicte Cormier,Philippe Lanotte,Pierre Sarradin,Pierre-François Dequin,Gilles Paintaud,Stephan Ehrmann +11 more
TL;DR: Nebulization remains the most reliable and simple technique to deliver inhaled amikacin uniformly to the lung during mechanical ventilation, and further development of tracheal sprays is required to take advantage of potential benefits related to high drug output and low extra-pulmonary deposition in large animals.

Salbutamol Nebulization During Noninvasive Ventilation in Exacerbated Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Laetitia Bodet-Contentin,Antoine Guillon,Antoine Guillon,Thierry Boulain,Jean-Pierre Frat,Denis Garot,Deborah Le Pennec,Deborah Le Pennec,Laurent Vecellio,Laurent Vecellio,Stephan Ehrmann,Stephan Ehrmann,Bruno Giraudeau,Elsa Tavernier,Pierre-François Dequin,Pierre-François Dequin +15 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that salbutamol could be nebulized through an NIV circuit in COPD exacerbation and improve forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) as compared with placebo and a slight improvement was observed when assessing FEV1 changes 40 minutes after the end of 5 mg sal butamol nebulization in patients undergoing NIV.
Management of severe asthma exacerbation: guidelines from the Société Française de Médecine d'Urgence, the Société de Réanimation de Langue Française and the French Group for Pediatric Intensive Care and Emergencies.

TL;DR: The conjunct work of 36 experts from 3 scientific societies resulted in 21 formalized recommendations to help improving the emergency and intensive care management of adult and pediatric patients with SAE.
