Functional microglia derived from human pluripotent stem cells empower retinal organs
TL;DR: A simplified and efficient method to generate microglia from human pluripotent stem cells is developed, and the first derivation of retinaresident microGlia in vitro is reported, providing a new source of human retinal microglIA for developmental and disease studies and regenerative therapeutics.

REG1A protects retinal photoreceptors from blue light damage
Ze-Hua Xu,Yang Zhang,Chang-Jun Zhang,Site Yu,Jing Yuan,Kangxin Jin,Zidan Jin +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that regenerating islet‐derived 1 alpha (REG1A) prevents photoreceptors from undergoing this LD‐induced apoptosis by increasing expression of the anti‐apoptotic gene Bcl2 and downregulatingexpression of the pro‐ap Optoelectronic gene Bax, resulting in reduced mitochondrial damage and improved aerobic capacity in photoreceptor cells.

Cystatin C-based estimated glomerular filtration rate and risk of stroke in the general population: a prospective cohort study
Jin-lan Liao,Fei Xiao,Liuqing Yang,Yanling Wei,Congying Song,Jing Li,Site Yu,Yue-Feng Lu,Jingwen Zhang,Liang Dai,Wei-Wen Liang,Tao Li,Zuying Xiong,Yangfeng Wu,Meg Jardine,Juan Jesus Carrero,Ying Shan,Xiaoyan Huang +17 more
TL;DR: The risks of total stroke and ischemic stroke increased exponentially when the eGFRcys fell below 75 mL/min/1.73 m2, and a U-shaped relationship was witnessed if eGfrcr was used instead, and there was a null association between eG FR and hemorrhagic stroke.

Estimated 24-h urinary sodium excretion and risk of end-stage kidney disease
Ying Shan,Yong Bai,Jingwen Zhang,Yue-Feng Lu,Site Yu,Congying Song,Junjie Xu,Changhai Ding,Zuying Xiong,Xiaoyan Huang +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the associations of estimated 24-h urinary sodium excretion, reflecting daily sodium intake, with the incidence of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) were investigated.
