Abstract Background Self-directed learning (SDL) ability is the basis for cultivating nursing students’ ability to find and solve problems, lifelong learning, and providing high-quality nursing talents for healthcare. The O-AMAS (Objective, Activation, Multi-learning, Assessment, Summary) model adheres to the teaching philosophy of student-centered, result-oriented, combines the advantages of online and offline teaching, enriching teaching resources and learning channels, diversifying teaching and evaluation methods, and emphasizing integrating and applying knowledge conducive to improving students’ SDL ability and achieving teaching objectives. This study explored the course design, practical, and application effects under the O-AMAS effective teaching model in internal medicine nursing to provide a basis and reference for combining effective teaching models with blended teaching in future nursing courses. Methods This study is a self-controlled before-after trial. The participants were 76 nursing undergraduates from Hunan Normal University. This study utilizes the O-AMAS effective teaching model to design internal medicine nursing courses and implement blended online and offline teaching. Main links: The overall course design and application are student-centered, after clarifying macro and micro multi-dimensional learning objectives, with online and offline blended teaching environments activated students’ learning behavior and diversified teachers’ teaching activities, then based on instant and dynamic provide effective feedback; finally, students take the initiate to make a brief and potent summary under the teacher guidance. After the course, a unified assessment of the learning effect of nursing students was conducted, including the evaluation of the SDL ability of nursing students, a final comprehensive evaluation grade, and a teaching satisfaction survey. Results The nursing students’ SDL ability scores are higher than before teaching, and the results were statistically significant ( P &lt; 0.05). The final average comprehensive evaluation grade of nursing students was 78.38 ± 7.12. More than 96% of the students are satisfied with this course. Conclusion Applying for internal medicine nursing blended teaching integrated with the O-AMAS effective teaching model is conducive to improving nursing students’ SDL ability, academic grades, and teaching satisfaction.

Design and practice of blended teaching of internal medicine nursing based on O-AMAS effective teaching model

Background A positive professional identity is key for nursing students in determining career direction and predicting future engagement in the profession. Despite its complexity and susceptibility to various influences, the factors shaping nursing students' professional identity remain poorly understood. Objectives This study aims to investigate how perceived stress can directly and indirectly influence professional identity among nursing students, with self-control and self-directed learning ability as mediators. Materials and methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted from October to December 2023, collecting data from 675 nursing students across five tertiary hospitals in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. The survey captured detailed data on sociodemographic characteristics, perceived stress, self-control, self-directed learning ability, and professional identity among the participants. Descriptive analysis and correlation matrices were used to analyze participant characteristics and assess bivariate correlations. The mediation model was analyzed using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results Perceived stress showed a direct and negative influence on professional identity among nursing students; self-control was shown to play a mediating role between perceived stress and professional identity; self-directed learning ability was shown to play a mediating role between perceived stress and professional identity; and self-control and self-directed learning ability were shown to play a chain mediating role between perceived stress and professional identity. Conclusion Self-control and self-directed learning ability have a chain mediating role in between perceived stress and professional identity among nursing students. It suggests that nursing managers and educators can improve the self-control and self-directed learning ability of nursing students to mitigate the negative impact of perceived stress on professional identity. 

Influence of perceived stress on professional identity among nursing students: a chain mediating role of self-control and self-directed learning ability

Background Enhancing the academic performance (AP) of college students can contribute to the overall scientific literacy among this population, thereby fostering societal progress. Objective The study investigates the correlation between college students’ AP and the socio-educational environment (SEE, including family, roommates, and teachers), study motivation (SM, including self-efficacy and study behaviors). Based on the research findings, recommendations are offered to students, educators, and school administrators. Settings Utilizing a stratified sampling approach, data was collected by selecting a sample of 330 first-year computer science students from a specific local university in Hebei Province, China. Methods Data will be collected through a hierarchical sampling method. Using correlation analysis, difference analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM) as data analysis methods. The data passed reliability and validity analysis (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.88, KMO = 0.88, χ2/df = 1.49RMSEA = 0.04). Results The independent sample T-test results showed that female students had higher academic performance than male students (p < 0.001), and there was no significant difference in academic performance between students from single parent or orphan families and students from normal families (p = 0.14), from non urban areas and from urban areas (p = 0.67). The results of the mediating effect analysis indicate that SM exerts complete mediation in the association between SEE and AP, with a mediating effect value of 0.18. Conclusion The educational disparity between urban and rural areas in China is gradually narrowing. Support policies for students from impoverished families in higher education institutions are showing initial effectiveness. The conducive learning environment and educational atmosphere for students can indirectly influence their psychological state, thus impacting their academic performance during their university years.

Research on the impact of the socio-educational environment on the academic performance of college students: the mediating role of study motivation

PD detection is a crucial technique used to assess the condition of power equipment’s insulation. However, the PD signal measured in the field is typically prone to noise interference, which can significantly impact the accuracy of the detection results. To mitigate the effects of noise, a novel noise suppression method has been proposed, which utilizes both the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD). Firstly, the original signal containing four PDs is generated by simulation, and then superimposed with Gaussian white noise. Then, the whole PD signal mixed with white noise is decomposed and denoised by SVD, and the segments containing PD signals are accurately found by using different decomposition layers of DWT, and the segments of non-PD signals are zeroed. Then, SVD is performed on the segments containing only PD signals to obtain the PD signal after noise reduction. Finally, various methods have been employed to denoise partial discharge analog signals, and their efficacy has been assessed using different indicators to validate the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

A Denoising Method for Partial Discharge Based on Wavelet Transformation and Singular Value Decomposition

<title>Abstract</title> Objective The study aimed to Design and Implementation of the “BOPPPS + PAD” blended Learning model in Surgical Nursing teaching, and evaluate Its Outcomes Methods A total of 363 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in 2021 and 2022 were selected as research subjects by using convenience sampling. The 188 students enrolled in 2021 formed the control group, while the 175 students enrolled in 2022 constituted the experimental group.For the control group students, instructors delivered surgical nursing instruction using traditional blended learning model which centered on classroom instruction supplemented by online resources. For the experimental group students, instructors implemented surgical nursing instruction through the “BOPPPS + PAD” blended teaching methodology. After completing the course, learning outcomes and course satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The course comprehensive grades for students in the control group and experimental group were 78.00 ± 7.41 and 83.66 ± 9.42, respectively (t = -3.03, p &lt; 0.01); The self-directed learning ability scores were 91.53 ± 16.08 and 103.81 ± 15.48, respectively (t = -4.97, p &lt; 0.001); The critical thinking ability scores were 344.84 ± 43.78 and 376.84 ± 72.33, respectively (t = -3.35, p = 0.001); Active collaborative learning ability scores were 16.06 ± 4.57 and 18.56 ± 3.05, respectively (t = -3.67, P &lt; 0.001). All results showed statistically significant differences. Course satisfaction among experimental group students was higher than that of the control group (P &lt; 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference. Conclusion The implementation of the “BOPPPS + PAD” blended learning model in Surgical Nursing teaching enhances students' academic performance and course satisfaction, while fostering their self-directed learning abilities, critical thinking skills, and active collaborative learning capabilities. 

Design and practice of the “BOPPPS+PAD” Blended Learning Model in Teaching of Surgical Nursing

Self-directed learning (SDL) is one of the most important abilities for medical students in terms of their future clinical medical practice. During the blended teaching process, teachers can design a variety of learning activities to cultivate students' SDL abilities. This study aimed to assess the differences between the SDL abilities of medical students using blended and traditional didactic teaching.This study included 239 medical students from eight administrative classes. The students were divided into two groups: (1) the experimental group (EG), which included 119 students from four administrative classes, and (2) the control group (CG), which included 120 students from the remaining four classes. From February to July 2022, blended teaching methods were applied to the EG group, and SDL abilities were assessed in comparison to the CG group receiving traditional didactic teaching methods.At the end of the semester, significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed between EG and CG in all six SDL ability factors. Furthermore, when k-means cluster analysis was used to analyze the learning behavior of students in the EG after classifying them as comprehensive, interactive, and passive types, significant differences were observed in all six Self-directed learning factors of students with the comprehensive type, whereas significant differences were observed in four factors (setting learning goals and plans, self-monitoring and regulation, information processing, and communication and cooperation) of students with the interactive type. For students with passive type, only one factor of SDL (information processing) showed significant improvement. There were on differences between comprehensive, interactive, and passive types of CG.The blended teaching approach is better than the conventional didactic teaching for cultivating clinical medical students' SDL abilities. 

Improving self-directed learning ability of medical students using the blended teaching method: a quasi-experimental study

In order to study the detection effect of optical detection on corona discharge in gas insulated switchgear (GIS), a photomultiplier tube (PMT) based optical detection method test platform is built. The needle-plate electrode is used to simulate corona discharge. An oscilloscope is used to collect the optical signal of corona discharge, a high-voltage probe is used to obtain the reference voltage, and the phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) pattern of the optical signal is analyzed. The results show that with the development of partial discharge (PD), the PRPD pattern can obviously unfold in different stages, which indicates that the optical detection for GIS has high detection sensitivity and good discrimination of the severity of discharge development. By combining the results of the PRPD pattern and previous studies, it is inferred that the negative half cycle discharge of AC corona discharge mainly depends on the electron avalanche ($\alpha$-process) and the secondary electron avalanche on the cathode surface ($\gamma$-process), and the light radiation is mainly excitation radiation and bremsstrahlung. The positive half cycle mainly depends on spatial photoionization (anode streamer), and the light radiation mainly consists of recombination radiation, excitation radiation and bremsstrahlung. This paper can provide a reference for the application of photoelectric devices used in GIS.
