All‐Optical Signal Processing: Few‐Layer Topological Insulator for All‐Optical Signal Processing Using the Nonlinear Kerr Effect (Advanced Optical Materials 12/2015)
Shuqing Chen,Lili Miao,Xing Chen,Yu Chen,Chujun Zhao,Subhadeep Datta,Ying Li,Qiaoliang Bao,Han Zhang,Yong Liu,Shuangchun Wen,Dianyuan Fan +11 more
Abstract: On page 1769, Y. Li, H. Zhang, and co-workers investigate the nonlinear optical properties of a topological insulator (TI, Bi2Te3) and demostrate a novel all-optical processing device by combing TIs and microfibers. The strong light-matter interaction can be achieved through the interaction of TIs with the evanescent field of propagating light. The unique nonlinear Kerr effect ensures this TI-based prototype device is realized with optical Kerr switching, and four-wave mixing-based wavelength conversion in the telecommunications band.

Tailoring the dispersion behavior of optical nanowires with intercore-cladding lithium niobate thin film.
TL;DR: It shows that the dispersion of optical nanowires with intercore-cladding lithium niobate thin film is highly sensitive to fiber geometry, and may provide an inroad for developing miniaturized functional optoelectronic devices.

Ultrabroad bandwidth solitons in fiber amplifier
TL;DR: In this paper, the amplification of an ultrabroad bandwidth pulse in an Erbium-doped fiber amplifier in the case where the spectral bandwidth of pulse is comparable to the gain bandwidth of the amplifier is investigated.

Broad omnidirectional total reflectors by using the combination of Thus-Morse photonic crystal
Yuanjiang Xiang,Xiaoyu Dai,Shuangchun Wen +2 more
- 01 Oct 2006
TL;DR: In this paper, a broad omnidirectional total reflection band in the Thus-Morse dielectric multilayers is reported, and the characteristics of the photonic band gaps (PBGs) are analyzed using the transfer matrix method.
