Investigating channel frequency selectivity in indoor visible-light communication systems
TL;DR: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the channel frequency selectivity, or in other words, the significance of inter-symbol interference at the receiver and the necessity of channel equalisation to recover the transmitted data.

- 10 Nov 2014
TL;DR: This work investigates the limitation on the data rate due to multipath reflections for an indoor visible light communication system and shows the interest of the proposed signal-to-interference ratio metric in determining the necessity of channel equalization at the receiver.

Performance of carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation with frequency domain equalization for indoor visible light communications
Shihe Long,Mohammad-Ali Khalighi,Michael M. Wolf,Zabih Ghassemlooy,Salah Bourennane +4 more
- 03 Dec 2015
TL;DR: Through numerical results, this work investigates the performance of this transmission scheme and, in particular, study the impact of the roll-off factor and the length of the pulse shaping filters.

Multi-band carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation with decision feedback equalization for bandlimited VLC systems
Khald Werfli,Paul Anthony Haigh,Zabih Ghassemlooy,Petr Chvojka,Stanislav Zvanovec,Sujan Rajbhandari,Shihe Long +6 more
- 03 Dec 2015
TL;DR: Simulation results that show the principle of implementing multi-band carrierless amplitude and phase (m-CAP) modulation enhanced by the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) for a bandlimited visible light communications (VLC) system are presented.

Transmission schemes for visible light communications in multipath environments
Michael M. Wolf,Sher Ali Cheema,Mohammad-Ali Khalighi,Shihe Long +3 more
- 05 Jul 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of both types of dispersions on the bit error rate performance of a discrete multitone transmission (DMT) based Li-Fi system is considered. But, the main goal of this work is to compare the DMT scheme results with the transmission strategies employing frequency domain equalization.
