This study contributes to determining the relationship between parental emotional regulation, optimism, and parenting style. The responses collected from respondents with parental status were used in the research. The majority of respondents were female; in terms of the age of participants, they were predominantly in the category of 31–40 years, followed by those in the category 41–50 years. The data were analyzed statistically through operations such as correlations, regression, and analysis of variance. The results indicate that the authoritative parenting style is associated with the emotional regulation of parents (r = 0.25, p < 0.001), but also with their level of optimism (r = 0.29, p < 0.001). It has been demonstrated both through correlations and through confirmatory factor analysis that optimism and emotional regulation are two factors that contribute to the adoption of the authoritative parenting style. The analysis of variance indicated that the emotional regulation of the parents does not vary according to their age. Based on multiple linear regression, it was established that 5% of parents’ level of optimism is predicted by their level of emotional regulation. These new results reveal the contribution of emotional regulation and parental optimism in the process of raising and educating a child.

Emotional Regulation in Parental Optimism—The Influence of Parenting Style

The online global classroom of the Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) initiative can be valuable for many local and international students who do not have the opportunity to participate in the worldwide in-person exchange programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This research focuses on determining the role of self-regulation in considering undergraduate engineering students' emotional intelligence and performance in online global classroom courses. The convenient data was collected through an online questionnaire that measures emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and student performance. It was applied to 144 students taking three different online courses from four international Latin American universities: (1) Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, (2) Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Dominican Republic, (3) DUOC, Pontificia Universidad Católica, Chile (4) San Sebastian University, Chile. Tecnologico de Monterrey designed and offered online global classroom courses to the students in these collaborating international universities. The online survey links were distributed during the last lecture of each online global classroom course through a convenient sampling method. Collected quantitative data were analyzed with the Jamovi statistical application. The statistically analyzed results of the mediation test affirmed that students' self-regulation partially mediated local and international students' emotional intelligence and academic performance. Furthermore, this research provides guidelines to both local and international professors in higher education institutions for promoting and implementing global classrooms in their existing educational settings. The aim is to help local and international students gain international experiences in COIL educational settings and guide them toward self-regulation of study and emotions for better academic performance. 

The Mediating Role of Self-regulation Between Emotional Intelligence and Student Performance in Online Global Classroom-based Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL): Empirical Evidence from Four Partner Universities of Latin America

Abstract: A situational judgment test (SJT) is a psychological instrument typically used to assess the suitability of applicants in personnel selection or development. Interest in SJTs has increased over the past decades as research has shown considerable validity of SJTs and various other benefits. Researchers often provide information about internal consistency reliability of SJTs, but this estimate is known to be unsuitable for SJTs because they are heterogeneous tests; a better estimate for the reliability of SJTs may be retest reliability. Thus, this study represents the first meta-analysis investigating the retest reliability of SJTs. The results reveal a pooled retest reliability estimate of r = .698 based on k = 37 coefficients. Additionally, variables associated with test characteristics and variables containing information about the study and the participants were examined as potential moderators. 

Retest Reliability of Situational Judgment Tests

La regulación emocional es el proceso de iniciar, mantener, modular la intensidad y duración de las reacciones emocionales para lograr objetivos y adaptarse. La desregulación emocional se ha relacionado con psicopatologías y comportamientos desadaptativos. Objetivo: Determinar la confiabilidad y estructura factorial de la adaptación a pobla-ción mexicana de la Escala de Desregulación Emocional (DERS) y proponer una baremación. Se aplicó un diseño instrumental, con una muestra de 858 estudiantes de secundaria entre los 11 y 17 años. La solución factorial obtenida mostró resultados ade-cuados: S-B χ² (246): 557.95 (p &lt;.001), CFI: .97, TLI: .96, RMSEA: .04 [IC90% .03-.05], SRMR: .04, así como niveles aceptables de discrepancia entre la matriz de covarianza observada y la teórica, con una consistencia interna satisfactoria, según el coeficiente de McDonald, (ω = .932 [IC .925 -.938]). Se concluye que la DERS cuenta con pro-piedades psicométricas adecuadas para su aplicación y que resulta un instrumento útil en instituciones de salud y educación, para la evaluación, desarrollo de estrategias de promoción y prevención de dificultades en salud mental de adolescentes. 

Revisión de las propiedades métricas de la Escala de Desregulación Emocional en adolescentes mexicanos

Objective To test the reliability and validity of a Chinese version Children's Depression Inventory(CDI).Methods Classes(n=168) from 56 schools were randomly selected in thirteen administrative districts/counties by population-based cross sectional study.Totally,7 161 eligible participants were included in analyses.Depressive symptoms were measured using the 27-item CDI in order to analyze the reliability and validity.Results The reliability was estimated by internal consistency,the co-efficient of Cronbach' s α was 0.853 for the entire sample,which of negative mood,interpersonal problems,ineffectiveness,anhedonia,negative self-esteem for the 5 subscales of CDI were between 0.348 to 0.669.The coefficient of Split-half was 0.824.Principal components factor extraction was conducted with the eigenvalue of 1,and six factors were reported describing 44.715% of the total variance,deep factor analysis and one factor were gotten(the eigenvalue was 2.783).And item total-score correlation co-efficients(r),were all greater than 0.35(P0.01)except item 26.There was a strong correlation of scores between the CDI and the AADS.Conclusion CDI has high validity and reliability among Chinese high school students.However,interpersonal problem subscale of CDI is not good.It should be revised under Chinese culture.
