Xiaoqiong Qi,Gary Agnew,Thomas Taimre,She Han,Yah Leng Lim,Karl Bertling,Aleksandar Demić,Paul Dean,Dragan Indjin,Aleksandar D. Rakić +9 more
TL;DR: The typical modal characteristics arising during laser feedback interferometry (LFI) in multi-mode terahertz (THz) quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) are investigated and the dependence of the aforementioned mapping of these three regimes on the linewidth enhancement factor of the laser is explored, which provides a systematic picture of the potential of LFI inMulti-mode THz QCLs for spectroscopic sensing applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, an alternative system and method for assaying ethanol content of liquid solutions at terahertz (THz) frequencies was proposed, which employs a laser feedback interferometer built around a 2.6-THz quantum cascade laser.

TL;DR: In this paper, the confocal nature of the QCL in LFI systems, with their innate capacity for depth sectioning, makes them suitable for skin diagnostics with the well-known advantages of more conventional confocal microscopes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a terahertz quantum cascade laser (QCL) is proposed to generate coherent emission with quantum noise-limited linewidths, making them particularly suited to the development of interferometric THz sensing and imaging systems.
Laser Feedback Interferometry as a Tool for Analysis of Granular Materials at Terahertz Frequencies: Towards Imaging and Identification of Plastic Explosives.
She Han,Karl Bertling,Paul Dean,James Keeley,Andrew D. Burnett,Yah Lim,Suraj P. Khanna,Alexander Valavanis,Edmund H. Linfield,Alexander Giles Davies,Dragan Indjin,Thomas Taimre,Aleksandar D. Rakić +12 more
TL;DR: This work proposes a self-consistent method for the analysis of granular materials at terahertz frequencies using a quantum cascade laser, designed for signals acquired from a laser feedback interferometer, and applied to non-contact reflection-mode sensing.
