Effect of ozone on nicotine desorption from model surfaces: evidence for heterogeneous chemistry.
TL;DR: Results show that surface oxidation was competitive with desorption, and oxidative losses could significantly reduce long-term re-emissions of nicotine from indoor surfaces, and are consistent with complete inhibition of ozone-nicotine surface reactions in an aqueous surface film present in cotton but not in Teflon surfaces.
Using Low-Cost Sensing to Support Nutritional Awareness
Jennifer Mankoff,Gary Hsieh,Ho Chak Hung,Sharon K. Lee,Elizabeth Nitao +4 more
- 29 Sep 2002
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a capture and access application that, based on shopping receipt data, provides access to ambiguous suggestions for more nutritious purchases, as opposed to simply what people are actually eating.

Pt-catalyzed cyclization/migration of propargylic alcohols for the synthesis of 3(2H)-furanones, pyrrolones, indolizines, and indolizinones.
Eric M. Bunnelle,Cameron R. Smith,Sharon K. Lee,Surendra W. Singaram,Allison J. Rhodes,Richmond Sarpong +5 more
TL;DR: Several heterocycles such as furanones, pyrrolones, and indolizines, which are of pharmacological importance, are easily accessed via the Pt(II)-catalyzed heterocyclization/1,2-migration of propargylic ketols or hydroxy imine derivatives.

Design, synthesis, and anti-HIV activity of 4'-modified carbocyclic nucleoside phosphonate reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
Constantine G. Boojamra,Jay P. Parrish,David Sperandio,Ying Gao,Oleg V. Petrakovsky,Sharon K. Lee,David Y. Markevitch,Jennifer E. Vela,Genevieve Laflamme,James M. Chen,Adrian S. Ray,Abraham C. Barron,Sparacino Mark L,Manoj C. Desai,Choung U. Kim,Tomas Cihlar,Richard L. Mackman +16 more
TL;DR: In vitro cellular metabolism studies using 9 confirmed that the active diphosphate metabolite is produced albeit at a lower efficiency relative to GS-9148, and demonstrated antiviral activity EC(50)=16 microM.

Enantioselective (Formal) Aza-Diels−Alder Reactions with Non-Danishefsky-Type Dienes
TL;DR: Enantioselective (formal) aza-Diels-Alder reactions between acylhydrazones and non-Danishefsky-type dienes have been developed, leading to the synthesis of a diverse array of tetrahydropyridines with good to excellent levels of enantioseLECTivity.
