Insect group II chitinase OfChtII promotes chitin degradation during larva-pupa molting.
TL;DR: Investigation of the role of OfChtII during the molting of Ostrinia furnacalis, a model lepidopteran pest insect, suggested an important role for Cht II during insect molting and provided a strategy for the coordinated degradation of cuticular chitin during beetle molting by ChtII, ChtI and Chi‐h.

High-Speed Atomic Force Microscopy Reveals Factors Affecting the Processivity of Chitinases during Interfacial Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Crystalline Chitin
Mingbo Qu,Takahiro Watanabe-Nakayama,Shaopeng Sun,Kenichi Umeda,Xiaoxi Guo,Liu Yuansheng,Toshio Ando,Qing Yang +7 more
TL;DR: The number of catalytic cycles is highly dependent on the enzymes' processivity as discussed by the authors, i.e., the number of cycles consecutively catalyzed by the enzymes, and is a function of the enzymes processivity.

Application of recombinant chitinase to insecticidal or bacterium-inhibition effect
Yang Qing,Qu Mingbo,Shaopeng Sun,Liu Yuansheng,Yang Jun,Liu Tian +5 more
- 25 Jan 2019
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reveal application of recombinant chitinase to an insecticidal or bacterium-inhibition effect, which only exists in insects and has a multi-structure domain.
