TL;DR: The ejecta evolution following the impact of Double Asteroid Redirection Test spacecraft into Dimorphos was primarily driven by the ejection of material, changing Dimorphos’s orbit substantially. The ejecta brightened initially and then dimmed at a consistent rate over the first 35 days, returning to its pre-impact brightness after 24 days.
