Production of size-controlled gellan gum microbeads encapsulating gasoline-degrading bacteria
TL;DR: In this article, an emulsification-internal gelation technique for production of cell-encapsulating gellan gum microbeads is proposed, which can potentially be used for the large-scale production of controlled-diameter GLLan gum-encapped cell micro beads for subsurface bioremediation applications.
Differentiation of Methanosaeta concilii and Methanosarcina barkeri in Anaerobic Mesophilic Granular Sludge by Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization and Confocal Scanning Laser Microscopy
Sylvie Rocheleau,Charles W. Greer,John R. Lawrence,Christiane Cantin,Louise Laramée,Serge R. Guiot +5 more
TL;DR: The combined use of fluorescent in situ hybridization with confocal scanning laser microscopy demonstrated that anaerobic granule topography depends on granule origin and feeding, and facilitated the identification, localization, and quantification of the specific relative abundance of M. concilii and Methanosarcina barkeri.
