Background and Design: Intense studies have been conducted in the world for the purpose of protecting children from the sun and raising awareness of sun protection at early age. Thus, the aim of the study is to evaluate sun protection interventions for preschoolers. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted under the guidance of PRISMA-P declaration. The articles were conducted in the study using the databases of Cochrane, PubMed, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, Clinical Key/Elseiver, Ovid, MEDLINE and the terms of “Skin Neoplasms”, “Sun Protection Factor”, “Child, Preschool”, “Randomized Controlled Trial” MeSH without any year restriction in March 2016. Randomized controlled studies applying sun protection steps at preschool education institutions and being conducted in English were included in the study. Results: In the systematic review, five research articles selected according to study criteria were examined and it was observed that the interventions were aimed at students, parents, teachers and school administrators. All of the studies were conducted between 1995-2007, four in the United States of America and one in Germany. Programs conducted in the articles were formed based on Piaget’s cognitive development theory, Health Belief Model, and Social Learning Theory. In the programs, behaviors of children were observed at kindergartens and information and attitudes of kindergarten administrators, sun protection applications, facilities/obstacles/policies of school, sun protection behaviors of children from the perspective of parents, sun protection behaviors of teachers and parents for children and psychosocial variables were evaluated. Conclusion: The intervention was observed to be efficient in four out of these five researches included in the study. Due to the importance of sun exposure in childhood, the early development of sun protection awareness is extremely important. It is thought that this systematic review will prepare a basis for future studies by drawing attention to effective models in sun protection education for children.

Anaokulu öğrencilerinde güneşten korunma davranışlarının geliştirilmesi: Sistematik derleme

Aim This study aimed to determine the nutrition, self-care skills, and health professional support of children with autism spectrum disorder. Method This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The parents of 82 children with autism spectrum disorder agreed to participate as part of a study group in 8 special education schools in 3 districts. The schools were selected on the basis of their levels of sociodemographic development. The data were collected and analysed between September 2016 and July 2017 using a two-section questionnaire developed after a literature review. Results The majority of the parents (63.4%) had sufficient knowledge with regard to autism spectrum disorder, but the issues that were most lacking in terms of education were care, nutrition, and skills related to daily living (36.2%). The parents wanted to be educated on "nutrition problems," and "activities of daily living." The majority of the children lacked self-care skills (82.9%). Conclusion The most frequently observed nutrition problem in children with autism spectrum disorder was selective eating. In line with the literature, the majority of the children in this study were found to be unable to care for themselves. School nurses can provide support in terms of nutrition and self-care skills in these schools. School health education programmes for parents can be developed to allow for the more rapid and effective resolution of nutrition and self-care problems.

Kronik hastaligi olan cocuklarin gunluk gereksinimleri saglikli akranlarindan farklilik gosterebilmektedir. Kronik hastaligi olan okul donemindeki cocuklarin okulda ilac kullanma, olcum yapma, beslenme, hareket etme, solunum ve bosaltim ile ilgili fiziksel gereksinimleri bulunmaktadir. Kronik hastaligi olan cocuklarin psikososyal ve davranissal degisiklik gosterdigi ve psikososyal olarak desteklenmesi gerektigi belirtilmistir. Cocuklarin motivasyonunun artmasi icin desteklenmeye gereksinimleri bulunmaktadir. Okulda kronik hastalik yonetiminin saglanabilmesinde okul hemsiresine olan gereksinim kacinilmazdir. Bu derlemede kronik hastaligi olan cocuklarin okuldaki gereksinimlerinin karsilanmasi ve bakiminda okul hemsiresinin gorev ve sorumluluklari, bakim, egitim, saglik politikalari ve yonetsel yonleri ele alinmistir.

School hygiene includes both checking in any factors which adversely affect health at school and its environment, and working for maximizing the health of students and school employees. There are various books in Turkish education literature on this medico-social topic. “Yeni Mektep Hifzisihhasi (New School Hygiene)” which was written by M. Cemal and was published by Kanaat Library in 1929-1930 is one of them. The author was a teacher of natural sciences at Istanbul Teachers College for Male. Our article will introduce the content of this book which is an interesting example of studies on school hygiene in early republic era. OZET Okul sagligi, okulda ve cevresinde sagligi olumsuz olarak  etkileyen  her  turlu  etmenin  denetimi  ile  ogrencilerin  ve  okulda  calisanlarin  sagliklarinin  en  ust  duzeye  cikartilmasi calismalarinin tumunu kapsamaktadir. Egitim  literaturumuzde, medikososyal bir konu olan okul sagligi  hakkinda yazilmis cesitli kitaplar vardir. Bu kitaplardan 1929-1930 yillarina ait bir ornek, Istanbul Erkek Muallim Mektebi  Tabii Ilimler Muallimi M. Cemal tarafindan kaleme alinmis  ve Kanaat Kutuphanesi tarafindan yayimlanmis olan “Yeni  Mektep Hifzissihhasi”dir. Makalemizde, okul sagligi ile ilgili  calismalara ilginc bir ornek teskil eden bu kitabin tanitimi  yapilmistir.

The system related to the presentation of health care has changed in our country in recent years so that; Socialization of Health Services has changed to Family Medicine Practice. The conduct of school health services emerges as an important point in Family Medicine Practice. In the 2011 – 2012 education period, there are seventeen million students in primary, secondary and pre-school education periods in Turkey and this figure is 22.5% of the population. More than 800.000 teachers and school employees should be evaluated within the scope of school health. In this review, school health services and the legal status in the world and in Turkey are examined and presenting proposals for the improvement of school health services is aimed. In the world, school health programs have began at 19th century and school health services have been included in routine applications at the early years of 20th century especially in developed countries. School health services are shared between family physicians and Community Health Centers in our country. Although there are some legal arrangements about “School Health Services” in Turkey, it’s difficult to say that services are given sufficiently. By performing the necessary legal arrangements to clarify responsibilities, better school health services.can be provided.
