A set of interactive toys that perform a sequence of actions in response to one another without external activation other than an initial actuation to begin the sequence of actions. Preferably, each toy has an activation switch and/or a receiver for a wireless signal such as an infrared signal which activates the toy. Upon activation, the toy performs a desired action, such as the enunciation of a speech pattern, and signals another toy to perform a responsive action. Preferably, the toy are capable of performing several different action sequences, such as the enunciation of different conversations, the performance of different movements, etc. Additionally, the toys are programmable by a remote control device. The remote control device either functions as an activation switch, initiating a random or predetermined (yet not user determined) sequence of interactions, or as an interaction selector, such that a desired sequence of actions may be selected.

Interactive talking dolls

An interactive, articulated talking toy talks and moves certain of its body parts (eyes, mouth, head and arms) under microprocessor control on the basis of the program material selected from a tape storage device incorporated in the body of the toy. The material selected is determined by a human's response to questions asked by the toy. The material stored on tape contains both audio and data. The processor chooses a particular one of a possible three audio tracks stored on tape on the basis of the specific response or nonresponse made by a human. The data track provides data to the processor which causes it to control the toy's body parts in concert with the audio program being reproduced. The toy has limited word recognition capabilities. The result is the appearance of interaction between the toy and a human by the toy's movement of its body parts and its speech seeming to respond to the human's input.

Interactive talking toy

A programmable sound effects device which utilizes a motion-sensitive mechanism for selecting unique sound effects. The device is comprised of an electronic motion-sensitive actuator, a sound effect storage media for storing a plurality of predetermined sound effects, and a playback mechanism for audibly emitting the motion-activated sound effects. This device is designed to be used with amusement and entertainment type products such as toys, games, dolls, and props, with exemplary uses in toy swords, drumsticks, magic wands, and the like. A preferred embodiment is comprised of a unit which is physically incorporated into the handle of a toy sword. As the user moves the toy sword in a predefined manner, the motion-sensitive actuator senses the motion and plays out a plurality of unique sound effects as a function of the user's movements. The motion-detection algorithm which triggers the different sound effects is programmable. In another embodiment, the device is contained within a single housing unit that is worn on the user's body. This embodiment is well suited for many toys, props, games, and the like that do not have any sound effects capability but would benefit from such capability.

Programmable motion-sensitive sound effects device

A speaker independent conversational voice command control system is provided which is useful in connection with home appliances which operate within a range of selectable parameters, such as an automatic clothes dryer. The control system recognizes voice commands and emits synthesized speech sounds, in an interaction with a user, to obtain the input necessary for setting the operating parameters.

A toy doll which responds with spoken words and/or sentences to the touching of selected portions of the doll by a user and/or voice actuation by the user is described Specific areas of the doll, such as eyes, ears, nose, etc are provided with touch switches When one of the switches is activated, the doll responds with one of two randomly selected sentences related to that part which was touched eg "that's my nose", "do you like my nose" In addition, voice actuation is provided by a microphone located within the doll When the user speaks to the doll, the microphone senses the speech After the speech has stopped for a fixed period of time (usually one second) the doll responds with a randomly selected sentence Audio responses are stored via ROM in circuitry within the doll The vocabulary of the doll can be changed or enlarged with additional ROM's In order to conserve power, a gravity switch is provided to turn the doll on when the doll is placed in a sitting position or otherwise moved If the doll is not moved, or receives no touch or voice stimulation after three minutes, the power is turned off

Speaking toy doll

A toy which, in response to a complex sound such as human speech generates a train of audio pulses. The pulses are psuedo-random with respect to frequency composition and to duration, thus simulating syllabic speech. Provisions are also described whereby the length of the pulse train is made random.

Voice responsive "talking" toy

The present invention provides an electronic maze game wherein the player attempts to direct a playing piece through a maze to a goal within the maze. The goal is suitably indicated by a flashing LED on the game board. The position of the goal within the maze changes in a pseudo-random manner. In the preferred embodiment, the object of the game is to score as many goals in the shortest possible time, without passing through any forbidden zone in the maze. The forbidden zone is indicated by a flashing LED of a different color than the goal LED, and periodically changes position within the maze in a pseudo-random manner.

Electronic maze game

An electronic toy doll including electronic circuitry for selectively generating a number of simulation sounds typically associated with a mystic or science fantasy character. In respective operational modes, the sound of wind, the sound of breathing, an eerie pseudo-random sequence of musical notes and sounds representing the operation of a weapon are selectively generated. In a further operational mode, a random one of a predetermined number of responses are provided upon generation of an actuation signal. The random response may be considered to be an answer to inquiries. Preferred circuitry for generating the simulation sounds is described, accessories, adapted for removable interconnection with the circuitry are also described.

A toy flying craft including provisions for generating realistic engine whines in accordance with the attitude of the craft. Provisions for simulating weapons fire are also disclosed.
