Let-7 expression defines two differentiation stages of cancer.
Scott A. Shell,Sun Mi Park,Amir Reza Radjabi,Robert Schickel,Emily O. Kistner,David Jewell,Christine Feig,Ernst Lengyel,Marcus E. Peter +8 more
TL;DR: Using ovarian cancer as a model, expression of let-7 and HMGA2 is a better predictor of prognosis than classical markers such as E-cadherin, vimentin, and Snail, and data identify loss ofLet-7 expression as a marker for less differentiated cancer.

Let-7 Prevents Early Cancer Progression by Suppressing Expression of the Embryonic Gene HMGA2
Sun Mi Park,Scott A. Shell,Amir Reza Radjabi,Robert Schickel,Christine Feig,Ben Boyerinas,Daniela M. Dinulescu,Ernst Lengyel,Marcus E. Peter +8 more
TL;DR: The microRNA let-7 regulates late embryonic development by suppressing expression of a number of genes such as c-myc and RAS as well as the embryonic gene high mobility group, A2 (HMGA2), and it is demonstrated that HMGA2 is more efficiently targeted byLet-7 than RAS.

Activation of AMPK is necessary for killing cancer cells and sparing cardiac cells.
TL;DR: Results show that treatments directed to ErbB1/2 receptors using GW-2974 activated AMPK, a key regulator in mitochondrial energy production pathways in human cardiac cells and cancer cells, and protected cardiac cells from cell death whereas Herceptin contributed to TNF-α-induced cellular killing.

Frequency, underdiagnosis, and heterogeneity of epidermal growth factor receptor exon 20 insertion mutations using real‐world genomic datasets
Santiago Viteri,Anna Minchom,Lyudmila Bazhenova,Sai-Hong Ignatius Ou,Joshua Bauml,Scott A. Shell,M. Schaffer,Junchen Gu,Jennifer B. Rose,Joshua C. Curtin,Parthiv J. Mahadevia,Nicolas Girard +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors analyzed real-world datasets to determine the frequency of ex20ins variants, and the ability of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) to identify them.

Heart protection by administering an amp-activated protein kinase activator
Yoshikazu Ohta,Sarah S. Bacus,Scott A. Shell +2 more
- 25 Sep 2009
TL;DR: In this article, a method to protect heart of a mammal by administering an AMP-activated protein kinase activator including its salt or prodrug to a mammal, a pharmaceutical composition containing at least the AMP activator for heart protection, use of the AMPK activators for preparing the pharmaceutical composition for heart preservation, and use of a compound having an activity of activating the AMK for preparing pharmaceutical composition.
