A wireless network (WN) is a distributed system where each node is a small hand-held commodity device called a station. Wireless sensor networks have received increasing interest in recent years due to their usage in monitoring and data collection in a wide variety of environments like remote geographic locations, industrial plants, toxic locations or even office buildings. One of the most important issues related to a WN is its energy constraints. A station is usually powered by a battery which cannot be recharged while on a mission. Hence, any protocol run by a WN should be energy-efficient. We design energy-efficient protocols for one-to-one communication on a single channel and k-channel wireless network. Our protocols can be extended for multiple multicasting as well.

Energy-Efficient Communication Protocols for Wireless Networks

The Ubiquitous Cloud is a concept of large-scale information service network as a social infra-structure. It is featured by real-world context information extraction, user information profiling and self-cofiguration/-control of network. The objective of the research is to evaluate the network traffic theoretically and thus give a guideline of network design. In this paper, we especially consider those traffic factors that are related to movement of mobile users and rea-time services, and thus discuss some necessary requirements for the network specification.

On modeling ubiquitous cloud: estimation of traffic

In this work the design and implementation of an application to track multiple agents in a indoor Wireless Sensor Actor Network (WSAN) is proposed. We developed a tracking algorithm that falls into the category of the radio frequency localization/tracking methods, that exploit the strength of the wireless communications among fixed and mobile agents to establish the position of the mobile ones. The algorithm resorts to an Extended Kalman Filter to process the agents measurements and reach a desired level of tracking performance. The tracking application, namely Teseo, is composed by a low-level NesC management software for the agents side and a Java graphical interface provided to users connected to mobile agents. A detailed description of the operations performed by Teseo is given, accompanied both by simulations to validate the tracking algorithm and experiments on a real testbed to test Teseo. Teseo: A Multi-Agent Tracking Application in Wireless Sensor Networks

Sensor networks have attracted a lot of notice. Thus environments may consist of many inexpensive nodes, each capable of collecting, storing, and processing environmental information, and communicating with neighboring nodes through wireless links. We first study several relevant computational geometric problems. Then, a number of papers aimed at solving the coverage problem in wireless sensor networks are discussed. We will address issues such as surveillance and exposure of sensor networks, coverage and connectivity in network deployment, and coverage- and energy-preserving protocols for sensor networks.
