High-Modulus Poly(ethylene terephthalate)/Expandable Fluorine Mica Nanocomposites with a Novel Reactive Compatibilizer
Yusuke Imai,Satoshi Nishimura,Eiichi Abe,Hiroshi Tateyama,Abiko Akimasa,Akira Yamaguchi,and Tomohiro Aoyama,Hiroaki Taguchi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 10-[3,5-bis(methoxycarbonyl)phenoxy]decyltriphenylphosphonium bromide (IP10TP) was designed to link the layered silicate to the PET matrix through covalent and ionic bonds.

Effect of Polyelectrolyte Dispersants on the Preparation of Silica‐Coated Zinc Oxide Particles in Aqueous Media
Hongzhi Wang,Hiroyuki Nakamura,Ken Yao,Masato Uehara,Satoshi Nishimura,Hideaki Maeda,Eiichi Abe +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, two kinds of polyelectrolyte dispersants were used to control the surface charge of the ZnO particles in aqueous media, and the results showed that poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) shifted the isoelectric point from pH 9 to pH 10, and poly(ammonium acrylate) (PAA) made the surface charges of ZnOs negative between pH 6 and pH 11.

Spectroscopic and photoelectrochemical study of sensitized layered niobate K4Nb6O17
Ken Yao,Satoshi Nishimura,Yusuke Imai,Hongzhi Wang,Tingli Ma,Eiichi Abe,Hiroshi Tateyama,Akihiko Yamagishi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the results are interpreted in terms of the stronger interaction between racemic [Ru(bpy)3]2+ molecules in the interlayer spaces of K4Nb6O17.

Direct Surface Force Measurement for Synthetic Smectites Using the Atomic Force Microscope
TL;DR: In this paper, an atomic force microscope with a colloid probe technique was used to measure forces interacting between smectites, that is, saponite and hectorite, and the measured forces fit well to the forces calculated by the Derjaguin-Landau -Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory at separations larger than 4 nm over concentrations of 10 - 5 -10 - 2 M NaCl and the pH range of 4-10.

Preparation and photocatalysis properties of silica-coated zinc oxide composite powder
TL;DR: In this paper, a modified Stober method was used to provide a silica coating on ZnO particles while maintaining good dispersion of the particles, and the results showed that the utilization of a previous hydrolysis process could reduce aggregation between core particles in the starting solution.
