Drought-tolerant Bacillus megaterium isolated from semi-arid conditions induces systemic tolerance of wheat under drought conditions.
Urooj Rashid,Humaira Yasmin,Muhammad Nadeem Hassan,Rabia Naz,Asia Nosheen,Muhammad Sajjad,Noshin Ilyas,Rumana Keyani,Zahra Jabeen,Saqib Mumtaz,Mohammed Nasser Alyemeni,Parvaiz Ahmad,Parvaiz Ahmad +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study of wheat plants, inoculated with drought-tolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) Bacillus megaterium (MU2) and Bacillus licheniformis (MU8) under induced drought stress was performed.

Halotolerant rhizobacteria Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes and Bacillus subtilis mediate systemic tolerance in hydroponically grown soybean (Glycine max L.) against salinity stress
Humaira Yasmin,Sana Naeem,Murk Bakhtawar,Zahra Jabeen,Asia Nosheen,Rabia Naz,Rumana Keyani,Saqib Mumtaz,Muhammad Nadeem Hassan +8 more
TL;DR: P. pseudoalcaligenes inoculated soybean plants showed tolerance by the increased activities of defense related system such as ion transport, antioxidant enzymes, proline and MDA content in shoots and roots by inducing tolerance in soybean against salinity stress in hydroponics by enhancing plant biomass, relative water content and osmolytes.

Sodium nitroprusside application improves morphological and physiological attributes of soybean (Glycine max L.) under salinity stress.
Zahra Jabeen,Hafiza Asma Fayyaz,Faiza Irshad,Nazim Hussain,Muhammad Nadeem Hassan,Junying Li,Sidra Rehman,Waseem Haider,Humaira Yasmin,Saqib Mumtaz,Syed Asad Hussain Bukhari,Ahlam Khalofah,Ahlam Khalofah,Rahmah N. Al-Qthanin,Moodi Saham Alsubeie +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of Sodium Nitroprusside (SNP) in improving morphological, physiological and biochemical attributes of soybean under salinity stress was evaluated, and the results revealed pivotal functions of SNP in salinity tolerance, including cell wall repair, sequestration of sodium ion in the vacuole and maintenance of normal chloroplasts with no swelling of thylakoids.
Fungi outcompete bacteria under increased uranium concentration in culture media
TL;DR: Bacteria and fungi isolated at the Ranger LAAs from soils with high concentrations of uranium may have uranium binding capability and hence the potential for uranium bioremediation.

Impact of Zn Nanoparticles Synthesized via Green and Chemical Approach on Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) Growth under Salt Stress
Sara Zafar,Zuhair Hasnain,Nazia Aslam,Saqib Mumtaz,Hawa Z. E. Jaafar,Puteri Edaroyati Megat Wahab,Mughal Qayum,Alexe Nicolae Ormenisan +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the green and chemical approaches for the preparation of Zn nanoparticles and their effect on the growth of okra plants under saline conditions were investigated, and it was concluded that the use of zinc nanoparticles is the most promising eco-friendly approach in mitigating salinity stress.
