Primary thyroid lymphomas.
Sandy Widder,Janice L. Pasieka +1 more
TL;DR: Surgery is rarely beneficial in diffuse large cell lymphoma and the mixed large cell subtypes because the disease is generally disseminated and surgical excision of all disease is not possible or associated with increased morbidity, but there may be a role for palliative surgical debulking to alleviate obstructive symptoms while the patient is undergoing standard chemotherapy and radiation.

The impact of body position on intra-abdominal pressure measurement: a multicenter analysis.
Michael L. Cheatham,Jan J. De Waele,Inneke De Laet,Bart De Keulenaer,Sandy Widder,Andrew W. Kirkpatrick,Adrian B. Cresswell,Manu L N G Malbrain,Zsolt Bodnár,Jorge H. Mejia-Mantilla,R Reis,Michael Parr,Robert Schulze,Sonia Puig +13 more
TL;DR: Head of bed elevation results in clinically significant increases in measured intra-abdominal pressure, and consistent body positioning from one IAP measurement to the next is necessary to allow consistent trending of IAP for accurate clinical decision making.

Effect of patient positioning on intra-abdominal pressure monitoring.
Paul B. McBeth,David A. Zygun,Sandy Widder,Michael L. Cheatham,Imme Zengerink,Judy Glowa,Andrew W. Kirkpatrick +6 more
TL;DR: There is a significant, positive association between IAP and HOB positioning in critically ill patients, and Clinically relevant changes in IAP occur at HOB increases >20 degrees.

Cervical spine clearance in obtunded blunt trauma patients: a prospective study.
Deirdre Hennessy,Sandy Widder,David A. Zygun,R. John Hurlbert,Paul Burrowes,John B. Kortbeek +5 more
TL;DR: It is recommended that CT be used as the sole modality to radiographically clear the C-spine in obtunded trauma patients and the use of flexion-extension radiographs as an ancillary diagnostic method is not supported.
The effect of different reference transducer positions on intra-abdominal pressure measurement: a multicenter analysis
Jan J. De Waele,Inneke De Laet,Bart De Keulenaer,Sandy Widder,Andrew W. Kirkpatrick,Adrian B. Cresswell,Manu L N G Malbrain,Zsolt Bodnár,Jorge H. Mejia-Mantilla,R Reis,Michael Parr,Robert Schulze,Sonia Compano,Michael L. Cheatham +13 more
TL;DR: In the supine position, IAPmidax is higher than both IAPphlebostatic and IAPpubis, differences found to be clinically significant; therefore, the symphysis pubis or phleBostatic axis reference lines are not interchangeable with the midaxillary level.
