Sensing the Charge State of Single Gold Nanoparticles via Work Function Measurements
Yingjie Zhang,Yingjie Zhang,Olivier Pluchery,Louis Caillard,Louis Caillard,Anne-Félicie Lamic-Humblot,Sandra Casale,Yves J. Chabal,Miquel Salmeron,Miquel Salmeron +9 more
TL;DR: KPFM is used to study the work function (WF) of gold nanoparticles (NPs) deposited on a Si wafer covered by a monolayer of alkyl chains, which provide a tunnel junction and demonstrates that the WF and charge state of Au NPs are influenced by chemical changes of the underlying substrate.

On the promoting effect of Au on CO oxidation kinetics of Au–Pt bimetallic nanoparticles supported on SiO2: An electronic effect?
Rachel P. Doherty,Jean-Marc Krafft,Christophe Méthivier,Sandra Casale,Hynd Remita,Hynd Remita,Catherine Louis,Cyril Thomas +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an electron enrichment of the Pt surface atoms due to charge transfer from Au to Pt, as indicated by XPS and CO-FTIR, was found to promote the CO oxidation kinetics in the AuPt catalyst with the lower Au/Pt ratio.

Selective amino acid substitution reduces cytotoxicity of the antimicrobial peptide mastoparan.
Luz N. Irazazabal,William F. Porto,Suzana M. Ribeiro,Suzana M. Ribeiro,Sandra Casale,Vincent Humblot,Ali Ladram,Octavio L. Franco,Octavio L. Franco,Octavio L. Franco +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that hydrophobic moment modified by amino acid substitution may enhance MP selectivity and hypothesize that [I5, R8] MP follows a mechanism of action similar to that proposed for MP, where the pore-forming activity leads to cell death.

Promotional effect of Ru on the activity and stability of Co/SBA-15 catalysts in dry reforming of methane
TL;DR: In this article, the catalytic activity of mono (Co) and bimetallic (Co-Ru) supported on SBA-15 was investigated in the dry reforming of methane (DRM) reaction.

Influence of Magnesium Substitution on the Basic Properties of Hydroxyapatites
Sarah Diallo-Garcia,Danielle Laurencin,Jean-Marc Krafft,Sandra Casale,Mark E. Smith,Hélène Lauron-Pernot,Guylène Costentin +6 more
TL;DR: Magnesium-substituted hydroxyapatites (HAP) have been prepared to evaluate the influence of cationic substitution on the surface basic properties of HAP, which can be explained by the surface content of magnesium being low, as evidenced by CO adsorption.
