This paper offers a solution to the supplier selection problem and the problem of lot‐sizing decisions. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is seldom applied to help solve multilevel supplier selection problems. The order allocation problem is reformulated as a linear programming problem in a novel way. First, a Data Envelopment Analysis/common weights model (DEA/CWA) is introduced to help define the supplier pool of capable suppliers. Selection criteria include management and green criteria. In a second phase, a nonlinear mathematical programing model is offered to determine capacity distribution among selected suppliers. A numerical example is provided to support the theoretical model.

Police agencies are under pressure to improve their performance and provide outstanding services for the community. In response, academics and practitioners have called to adopt effective methods that help these agencies to achieve their goals. Studies reported that benchmarking has a role to improve organisational performance. However, poor evidence of using benchmarking within police agencies and very few studies examine the relationship between it and police performance. Motivated by this gap, this study aims to explore and examine this relationship under the mediating role of innovation culture.,A quantitative methodology was utilised in this study. Data used to examine the hypotheses were obtained from the departments and stations of the Dubai Police Force (DPF), and the population comprised head section officers. A total of 338 questionnaires were distributed to respondents, 252 of which were returned. The hypothesised relationships were tested with the data collected by SPSS and SmartPLS statistical software.,Findings clearly show that benchmarking is directly and indirectly associated with the organisational performance of the DPF through innovation culture. Results support the notion that innovation culture facilitates the implementation of proper benchmarking projects in the DPF, which positively affects different aspects of its performance.,This study includes several limitations. Specifically, the generalisability of the findings should be considered. The analysis applies only to the DPF in the UAE. Thus, investigating and analysing variables in different police agencies in the UAE or internationally would be valuable.,Several recommendations are provided in relation to the obtained results to assist managers and decision makers in the DPF and other police agencies. This study includes suggestions for improving police performance by establishing an innovation culture and adopting benchmarking practices.,Although several contributions indicated that benchmarking and innovation culture is a key determinant of success, the literature lacks empirical studies investigating this link in the police field. This study is the only one to date that examined this relationship in police services. Accordingly, this study seeks to bridge this gap and delivers empirical evidence and theoretical insight to better understand this relationship.

An empirical examination of the relationship between benchmarking, innovation culture and organisational performance using structural equation modelling

Purchasing and supply management can have a major impact on the success of project business. Project purchasing can cause huge problems for projects, but it can also be a major source of success. This study investigates the effect of total cost components, supply management capability and the status of supply management on risk management performance in the context of project business. A survey was conducted to collect data from companies engaged in project business in Finland. Based on the responses from 99 firms, it was found that the strategic status of supply management, supply capability, costs before and after purchasing and project duration have a significant effect on risk management. This gives a specific indication of where to focus risk management actions. Risk mitigation strategies, however, seem to be systemic in their nature in the sense that simultaneous strategies are probably needed to assure the effective flow of supply.

The impact of total costs and strategic supply on risk management in project business

The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the impact of benchmarking and standardisation in purchasing on purchasing and business performance. The resource-based view (RBV) has been adopted as the theoretical lens for this study to analyse the impact of benchmarking and standardisation on purchasing and business performance. To address the research problem, a survey was designed and a structural model was hypothesised and tested using structural equation modelling with 204 samples. Data were collected from the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry in Thailand. The results of this research indicate that both benchmarking and standardisation have a significant positive impact on purchasing performance and an indirect positive effect through purchasing performance on business performance. Thus, benchmarking and standardising materials and purchasing procedures are important and may help firms to meet their materials expenditure targets and increase the quality of materials, on-time delivery from suppliers, inventory performance, as well as overall business performance.
