We report a rare case of lingual schwannoma in a young woman who was treated with complete transoral excision, and also review the literature of the past two decades, analyzing epidemiological and clinical data of the 35 cases reported. Lingual schwannomas generally present as a painless lump with an average size of 2 cm in the fourth decade of life and with no gender predilection. Complete transoral excision can be considered standard treatment for these tumours, with no recurrences documented in the literature.

Schwannomas are peripheral nerve sheath tumors. Approximately 25% of extracranial schwannomas are located in the head and neck district, but only 1% shows an intraoral origin. We report a case of a 28-year-old patient with a tongue schwannoma. Morphologic analysis and immunohistochemical findings strongly support the diagnosis. Surgical treatment is discussed.

Tongue schwannoma: clinicopathological findings.

Background. Schwannoma is a benign nerve sheath tumor. It was first identified by Virchow in 1908. These tumors can emerge from any nerve covered with a Schwann cell sheath, including the cranial nerves (with the exception of the optic and olfactory nerves), the spinal nerves, and the autonomous nervous system (Harada H, Omura K and Maeda A, 2001). Case Presentation. A 28-year-old male farmer presented with a swelling at the right side of the base of tongue extending into the oral tongue. It was identified incidentally by his newly married wife while he was yawning. It was asymptomatic. The patient had no difficulty in chewing, swallowing, or phonation and also no sensory or taste abnormalities. The tongue movements were normal. Conclusions. Diagnosis of schwannoma should be considered for a smooth, painless, firm swelling in the tongue. A schwannoma of the tongue may grow large enough before producing any symptom. Around 25–40% of schwannoma happen within the head and neck region, and among these, 1-12% occurs in the oral cavity, most regularly the tongue or mouth floor. Schwannoma of the tongue does not show any age or sex predisposition. It usually presents as a painless lump in the tongue, but when it grows larger than 3.0 cm, it may produce dysphagia, pain, or discomfort and change in the quality of voice. Here, we report a case of large ( ) asymptomatic schwannoma of the tongue in a 28-year-old male patient and review the literature available during the last 61 years.

Tongue base schwannoma; a literature review with a new case presentation

Neurilemmomas of the tongue are uncommon. When they do occur; treatment is simple. However; diagnosis is invariably delayed because of the vagueness of symptoms. We encountered 2 cases of this unusual tumor within weeks of each other In 1 of these cases, the definitive diagnosis was delayed because of the atypical clinical picture-that is, an abscess in the tongue that had caused respiratory distress. We describe our management of these 2 cases, and we discuss what has been published in the literature regarding the presentation, diagnosis, histopathology, treatment, and prognosis for patients with glossal neurilemmoma.

Two Cases of Neurilemmoma of the Tongue

A trial was conducted at the Horticulture Research Farm (HRF), Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, SHUATS, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh during winter 2022 to study the “Response of NPK and Organic Manures on Growth and Root, Yield of Carrot (Daucus carota L.) cv. Nantes”. Results revealed that treatment T2 100% NPK emerged as superior over all other treatment combination in terms of Plant height 59.05 cm, Fresh weight of leaves per plant 137.18, Root yield per plot 4.30 kg, Yield 426.40 quintal/ha-1 T3 75%NPK + FYM number of leaves 19.88,T5 75% NPK + PM  Fresh weight of plant 132.04 gm, Length of root 23.75 cm, Diameter of root 5.13 cm T7 50% NPK + VC 116.98 gm Showed higher B:C ratio (5.67) compared with the other treatments under Prayagraj Argo-Climatic conditions.

Response of NPK and Organic Manures on Growth, and Root, Yield of Carrot (Daucus carota L.) cv. Nantes

The present investigation was carried out to Effect of different level of NPK and CRF for plant growth and rhizome yield in Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea L.) was conducted in the horticulture Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higgin bottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) during July 2021- April 2022. The experiment was laid out in RBD with 11 Treatments with 3 replications. The results revealed that the treatment T10 100% CRF(Control Release Fertilizer)performed the best in terms in Plant height (140.22), leaf length (49.06), leaf width (19.10), No. of tillers(14.33), fresh weight per plant (736.33), Number of rhizomes per plant (11.33), yield of rhizomes per plant (11.78), yield of rhizomes per hectare (81.81), Maximum cost benefit (3.50). Therefore, the treatment T10 100% CRF is the best when compared to other treatments. As, the highest benefit cost ratio was observed in T10 100% CRF. i.e. (3.50).
