TL;DR: A randomized trial comparing antibiotic therapy (10-day course) with appendectomy in patients with appendicitis at 25 U.S. centers was conducted in this paper, where the primary outcome was 30-day health status, as assessed with the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) questionnaire.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the association between perceived social support and physical and mental health outcomes 6 months to 12 months postinjury and find that patients with weaker PSS were more likely to have new functional limitations and chronic pain in addition to being less likely to be back at work/school and being more likely screening positive for symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.
