TL;DR: It is reported that specific HLA-DRB1*04 alleles are protective against Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders, and found that these HLA subtypes selectively bind a piece of Tau crucial to aggregation but only when it is acetylated (a-PHF6).

TL;DR: A multicenter HLA study of 87 anti-IgLON5 patients reveals a strong association with HLA-DQ, specifically HLA-DQB1*05 subtypes, rather than HLA-DRB1*10:01, mediating risk in anti-IgLON5 disease through preferential binding of IgLON5 to risk-associated HLA-DQ receptors.
