Pulse shape discrimination with fast digitizers
D. Cester,Marcello Lunardon,G. Nebbia,Luca Stevanato,Giuseppe Viesti,S. Petrucci,Carlo Tintori +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the pulse shape discrimination (PSD) between neutrons and gamma rays in liquid scintillators is studied by using the charge integration method with fast digitizers having different technical characteristics.

Special nuclear material detection with a mobile multi-detector system
D. Cester,G. Nebbia,Luca Stevanato,Giuseppe Viesti,F. Neri,S. Petrucci,S. Selmi,Carlo Tintori,Paolo Peerani,Alice Tomanin +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a mobile inspection system used both as a high sensitivity passive neutron/gamma spectroscopic tool and as an active inspection device using tagged neutrons.

High rate read-out of LaBr(Ce) scintillator with a fast digitizer
Luca Stevanato,D. Cester,G. Nebbia,Giuseppe Viesti,F. Neri,S. Petrucci,S. Selmi,Carlo Tintori +7 more
TL;DR: The energy resolution of a LaBr(Ce) detector has been studied as a function of the count rate up to 340 kHz by using a 12 bit 250 MS/s V1720 digitizer and it appears that the energy resolution obtained is better than that achievable using standard NIM electronics.

Commissioning and Field Tests of a Van-Mounted System for the Detection of Radioactive Sources and Special Nuclear Material
D. Cester,Marcello Lunardon,Luca Stevanato,Giuseppe Viesti,R. Chandra,G. Davatz,H. Friederich,Ulisse Gendotti,D. Murer,Joanna Iwanowska-Hanke,P. Sibczynski,Marek Moszynski,Lukasz Swiderski,F. Resnati,André Rubbia,Alessandro Iovene,S. Petrucci,Carlo Tintori,Massimo Caccia,V. Chmill,Romualdo Santoro,A. Martemyianov,M. Doherty,J. L. Carrol,G. Christodoulou,T. Stainer,C. Touramanis +26 more
TL;DR: The MODES_SNM project as discussed by the authors aimed at developing a mobile/portable modular detection system for radioactive sources and Special Nuclear Material (SNM), whose main goal was to deliver a tested prototype capable of passively detecting weak or shielded radioactive sources with accuracy higher than that of currently available systems.

An integrated mobile system for port security
D. Cester,D. Fabris,Marcello Lunardon,Sandra Moretto,G. Nebbia,S. Pesente,Luca Stevanato,Giuseppe Viesti,F. Neri,S. Petrucci,S. Selmi,C. Tintori +11 more
- 06 Jun 2011
TL;DR: In this article, an integrated mobile system for port security is presented, which performs active investigations by using the tagged neutron inspection technique, of suspect dangerous materials as well as passive measurements of neutrons and gamma rays to search and identify radioactive and special nuclear materials.
