Synthesis, spectral characterization and structural studies of a novel O, N, O donor semicarbazone and its binuclear copper complex with hydrogen bond stabilized lattice

A new series of transition metal complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III) with the azo dye, 3-hydroxy-4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenylazo)naphthalene-1-sulphonic acid (LH) have been synthesized and characterized. The structural features have been arrived from their microanalysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance measurements, mass, fluorescence, IR, UV-Vis, 1HNMR and ESR spectral studies. Mössbauer spectra of two iron complexes have been done. In the light of these results, it is suggested that ligand coordinates to metal ions via hydroxyl oxygen and nitrogen of azo group. The fluorescence spectral property of ligand and complexes studied where complexes shows enhanced emission. The redox property of the Co(II) complex is studied by cyclic voltammetry. The ligand and its Mn(II) complex was investigated for non linear optical property. The in vitro biological activity of the ligand and complexes were tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. The results indicate that the complexes have enhanced biological activity than the ligand. Antioxidant activity of the ligand and complexes was studied by free radical scavenging method. The nuclease activity of ligand and complexes show that they cleave DNA through redox chemistry.

Chromium(III), manganese(II) and
iron(III) complexes of dmptacn
[1,4-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane] with general formula
[M(dmptacn)Cl]

 have been prepared by reaction of
the macrocycle with the corresponding metal chloride salts and their
physicochemical properties examined. Magnetic susceptibility,
Mossbauer and ESR measurements have shown that the
iron(III) complex
[Fe(dmptacn)Cl][PF
 6
]
 2
·MeOH exhibits
spin-crossover behaviour, existing in the low-spin form below 50 K and
as a mixture of low- and high-spin forms at 298 K. The structure of
[Cr(dmptacn)Cl][ClO
 4
]
 2
 confirmed that the isomer
formed has the secondary nitrogen adjacent to the chloro ligand and that
there is significant distortion from octahedral geometry in the complex,
both common features of complexes of dmptacn. Two enantiomeric forms of
the complex are found in the unit cell,
vis-a-vis in one enantiomer the
δδδ conformation of the tacn ring is coupled with a
λλ conformation of the pyridyl arms while the opposite
conformations are observed in the other.

Synthesis and spectral studies of metal complexes of a Schiff base derived from (2-amino-5-chlorophenyl)phenyl methanone.

The synthesis of Fe (III) complex with an azo dye derived from (2-Amino-5-Chlorophenyl) phenyl methanone is presented. The newly prepared ligand and complex are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Visible and Mossbauer spectral studies, Molar conductance, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The thermal stability of the complex is determined from the thermo gravimetric analysis.

Synthesis and characterization of Fe (III) complex of an azo dye derived from (2-amino-5-chlorophenyl) phenyl methanone

The Fe(II) and Fe(III) complexes of an azo dye [UAAPJderived from 4-amino-2, 3-dimethyl-l-phenyl-3-pyrazoline-5-one and lH-pyrimidine-2, 4-dione have been prepared. The ligand and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic measurement, molar conductance, FTIR, UV-Vis spectra, 1H NMR, and Mossbauer spectroscopic studies and thermo gravimetric analysis. Analytical data suggests molecular formula [Fe(UAAP)2]Cl3 for Fe(III) complex and [Fe(UAAP)2SO4] for Fe(II) complex. The IR spectral data suggest that [UAAP] is acting as a neutral tridentate ligand towards Fe(III) and as a neutral bidentate ligand towards Fe(II) in their complexes. Mossbauer and electronic spectral data and magnetic moment value agree with the high spin octahedral geometry for both complexes. The ligand and complexes were screened for antibacterial and antifungal studies. The metal complexes exhibit increased antimicrobial activity than ligand.

Spectroscopic studies on Fe(II) and Fe(III) complexes of 5-aryl azo substituted lH-pyrimidine-2,4-dione

Two new mono nuclear Fe(III) complexes of an azodye (ANSN) and a Schiff base (FAHP) are reported. The azodye is prepared by coupling diazotized 1-amino-2-naphthol-4-sulphonicacid with 2-naphthol and the Schiff base is prepared by condensing 2-amino-3-hydroxy pyridine with furfural. The complexes were synthesized by the reaction of FeCl32H2O with respective ligands. They were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies like IR, NMR, Electronic and M.ssbauer. Magnetic susceptibility and Molar conductance of complexes at room temperature were studied. Based on the spectroscopic evidences and other analytical data the complexes are formulated as[Fe(ANSN)Cl(H2O)2] and [Fe(FAHP)Cl2(H2O)2].
