TL;DR: In this paper, MeerKAT 1000 MHz and 1400 MHz observations of a bright radio galaxy in the southern hemisphere, ESO~137-006, were used to reveal new features that have never been seen in a radio galaxy before: collimated synchrotron threads of yet unknown origin.
A new look at old friends – I. Imaging classical radio galaxies with uGMRT and MeerKAT
B. L. Fanaroff,Dharam V. Lal,Tiziana Venturi,Oleg Smirnov,M. Bondi,Kshitij Thorat,Kshitij Thorat,L. Bester,Gyula I. G. Józsa,D. Kleiner,F. Loi,S. Makhathini,Sarah V. White +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic study of radio galaxies with the upgraded giant metrewave radio telescope (uGMRT) and MeerKAT was carried out to explore whether the unprecedented few $\mu$Jy sensitivity reached in the range 550-1712 MHz at the resolution of ''sim4^{\prime\prime}-7^{\ prime\prime'' reveals new features in the radio emission which might need us to revise our current classification scheme for classical radio galaxies.
