By applying Hertz Contact Theory and ADAMS software,the process of gear meshing is simulated.The magnitude and variation of meshing force under given rotation speed and load is investigated.The results indicate that by raising the damping parameter the vibrating range of meshing force can be decreased and the life of gears extended.

Calculation and simulation of gear meshing force based on virtual prototyping technology

The main problem is less efficiency and blocking during sugarcane harvesting in hilly areas. This paper researched the cutting and transporting system of a small sugarcane harvester using virtual prototype technology. The dynamics simulation analyses were carried out to study the transporting status with different friction coefficients between the sugarcane and the spiral and different numbers of the rubber around the drum. The virtual test results show that increasing the friction coefficient can enhance the transporting speed of the sugarcane, and adding more rubbers on the drum can also increase the speed further. Then, the paper analyzed the logistic process of the cut sugarcane with different friction coefficients between the sugarcane and the spiral and four rubbers mounted on the drum based on the high-speed photography in the field simulation test. The results also show that the transporting speed of the cut sugarcane can increase 40% when the friction coefficient and the rubbers are added. The simulation and field test results verify that the virtual prototype technology can provide reference for the development of the physical prototype.

Simulation and Experiment on Conveying Device of Cutting System of Small Sugarcane Harvester (RESEARCH NOTE)

An analysis using computational modeling by finite elements of the phenomenon of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) was carried out for a transmission system of pinion gear in a crankcase with partial filling lubrication. The analysis utilized tribological studies describing the contact behavior characteristics of solid surfaces with the lubrication film caused by dragging and splashing. Furthermore, the characteristics of the Reynolds-Hertz model for this type of phenomena are described, as well as the equations of elastic deformation and elastic displacements along with the geometry of the non-concordant bodies in contact. This was done by modeling the Lagrangian-Eulerian type for non-Newtonian fluid, implementing multiphysics coupling methods. The pressure profile of the lubricant films, the temperature reached by the lubricant, and the von Mises stress at the contact were obtained, showing a good approximation with the related results, indicating a range of 30 MPa to 900 MPa of pressure in the lubricant film and von Mises stress ranging from 30 MPa to 100 MPa in the contact area of the gear tooth.

Modeling and Simulation of Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication in Spur Gears

The broken bearings and great noise and vibration often occurs with the small sugarcane harvester transfer case when it starts up working. To analyze the startup status of the transfer case conveniently and quickly, the finite element transient structure analysis is carried out. with virtual prototype technology to simulate the transfer case's startup dynamic process and measure the instantaneous load values. Stress distribution and load variation analysis results show that during startup, the stress concentration of node load increases rapidly with gear speed rising transiently. The maximum value that lying on the underside of the bearing base goes beyond the allowable range before dropping sharply to approach the steady state with stress within the allowable range. Therefore, at startup the impact load of the transfer case increases far greater than in the steady state which deteriorate the structure stress condition seriously. The strength of the transfer case is then enriched by structural improvement accordingly to reduce maximum stress 36.8%, the maximum deviation 18.5% and the vibration up to30%, improving the bearings working reliability notably.
