Insights Into Flea Beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae) Host Specificity From Concordant Mitochondrial and Nuclear DNA Phylogenies
Tracie M. Jenkins,S. Kris Braman,Zhenbang Chen,Tyler D. Eaton,Gretchen V. Pettis,David W. Boyd +5 more
TL;DR: How markers, in conjunction with morphology and host plant feeding behavior, can not only help to validate morphologically difficult taxa but also can illuminate herbivore-plant genetic structure through phylogeny analyses is discussed.

Natural Enemy Communities and Biological Control of Parthenolecanium spp. (Hemiptera: Coccidae) in the Southeastern United States.
TL;DR: The species composition, seasonal ecology, and impacts of parasitoids and predators of Parthenolecanium corni and P. quercifex in the urban landscapes of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia are documented.
Life History of Parthenolecanium spp. (Hemiptera: Coccidae) in Urban Landscapes of the Southeastern United States.
TL;DR: Developing degree-day models for crawler emergence of the two soft scale species in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia accurately predicted the date of Crawler emergence within 1 wk of the actual emergence in 2014.

Effects of cultivar and insecticide choice on oleander aphid management and arthropod dynamics on Asclepias species.
S. Kris Braman,Joyce G. Latimer +1 more
TL;DR: Performance of oleander aphid and large milkweed bug on 21 species of Asclepias was evaluated in a two-year field study and the plant species with the lowest number of aphids, the highest plant quality ratings and the highest number of Monarch larvae was gooseplant.

TL;DR: The Southern Nursery Integrated Pest Management (SNIPM) workshop as mentioned in this paper was held in three southeastern United States cities in June 2014, where participants were provided with 4 hours of instruction including hands-on demonstrations in horticultural management, arthropods, plant diseases, and weeds, and participants completed initial surveys for gains in knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as their intentions to adopt various integrated pest management practices after the workshop.
