Raman spectra of ferroelectric Pb1−xLaxTiO3, in the tetragonal phase of the material and for different La concentrations, were studied for different temperatures and pressures. While temperature was varied from 8 K to transition temperature (Tc) at atmospheric pressure, applied hydrostatic pressure was increased from zero to transition pressure (Pc) at room temperature. Isobaric and isothermal mode-Gruneisen parameters were calculated from the measured Raman spectra, and previously reported coefficients of thermal expansion [Chen et al., J. Am. Ceram. Soc. 88, 1356 (2005)] and bulk moduli. Also the coefficient of intrinsic anharmonicity was calculated. Although the absolute value of Gruneisen parameters strongly depends on the Raman mode under study, all of them grow as La concentration increases.

The ferroelectric ceramics have been one of the most studied compounds in the literature both in obtaining the same growth as in behavior of chemical and physical properties. In its growth the materials can go through other phases or to change their magnetic ferroelectric properties due to vacancies generated as PbTiO3 material. This material structural changes its phase also applying pressure with temperature, concentration and allowing anharmonic study behavior [1]. Raman spectroscopy is a technique which provides high resolution in seconds chemical and structural information of almost any organic or inorganic compound. As a technique which does not require a special atmosphere or vacuum, is one technique that has been used extensively in the characterization of ferroelectric materials in particular of PbTiO3.

The technique of Raman spectroscopy in the characterization physical, chemical and structural ferroelectric of the materials

The Raman spectroscopy can be used as a didactic technique in the study of the thermal expansion of Gruneisen parameter and anharmonic behavior of materials. Here, we present exemplary, the lead titanate doped with lanthanum (PLT). However, this method can be used to study various materials. The ferroelectric ceramics have been one of the most studied compounds in the literature both in obtaining the same, as in behavior of chemical and physical properties. The structural PbTiO3 phase may change either by the application of pressure, temperature or concentration, thereby allowing a study of behavior anharmonic of the material [M. R. Joya, J. Barba and P. S. Pizani, J. Appl. Phys.113 (2013) 013512]. This paper gives a brief review of the effect of temperature and pressure on Raman spectra.
