The persistent homology of mitochondrial ATP synthases
S. D. Sinha,Jeremy G. Wideman +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors used homology detection techniques and molecular modeling tools to identify an ancestral set of 17 ATP synthase subunits across all eukaryotic lineages, and a ∼1 billion-year-old gene fusion was identified as a synapomorphy of the SAR supergroup (stramenopila, alveolate, rhizaria).

Evolutionary History of Oxysterol-Binding Proteins Reveals Complex History of Duplication and Loss in Animals and Fungi
TL;DR: In this paper , the evolutionary relationship between these well-characterized lipid transport proteins is still unclear, and the authors reconstruct the phylogenies of eukaryote OSBPs, showing that the ancestral Saccharomycotina had four OSBP, the ancestral fungus had five OSBP and the ancestral animal had six OSBP.
Single-Cell Genomics Reveals the Divergent Mitochondrial Genomes of Retaria (Foraminifera and Radiolaria)
Jan Macher,Nicole L. Coots,Yu Ping Poh,Elsa B. Girard,Anouk Langerak,Sergio A. Muñoz-Gómez,S. D. Sinha,Dagmar Jirsová,Rutger A. Vos,Richard Wissels,Gillian H. Gile,Willem Renema,Jeremy G. Wideman +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the reduced mitochondrial genomes of Retaria, the rhizarian lineage comprising the phyla Foraminifera and Radiolaria, were determined using single-cell approaches.
