Autoantibodies from Sjögren's syndrome induce activation of both the intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic pathways in human salivary gland cell line A-253
Margherita Sisto,Sabrina Lisi,Donatello Castellana,P. Scagliusi,Massimo D'Amore,S. Caprio,A. Scagliusi,A. Acquafredda,Maria Antonietta Panaro,Vincenzo Mitolo +9 more
TL;DR: Whether autoantibodies contained in IgG purified from Sjögren sera trigger apoptotic process in an experimental model represented by the human salivary gland cell line A-253 is explored to define if the intrinsic or extrinsic pathways are activated.

Regulation of mRNA caspase-8 levels by anti-nuclear autoantibodies
Sabrina Lisi,Margherita Sisto,Dario Domenico Lofrumento,Maria Antonia Frassanito,S. Caprio,Maria Luisa Romano,Vincenzo Mitolo,Massimo D'Amore +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that anti-Ro and anti-La Abs are able to trigger the extrinsic pathway of apoptosis in the human salivary gland cells, and study of the mRNA in SGEC experimental model may provide insight into the signal transduction pathway stimulated by anti-nuclear autoantibodies.

TNF blocker drugs modulate human TNF-α-converting enzyme pro-domain shedding induced by autoantibodies.
Margherita Sisto,Sabrina Lisi,Dario Domenico Lofrumento,S. Caprio,Vincenzo Mitolo,Massimo D'Amore +5 more
TL;DR: Comparison efficacy analysis of the regulation of TACE activity by Adalimumab and Etanercept revealed that AdAlimumab appear to be significantly more efficacious than Etanenercept in preventing TACE activation caused by anti-Ro/SSA autoAbs.

The strange case of a patient affected by acromegaly with osteoporomalacia without hypogonadism
TL;DR: A case of patient affected by acromegaly without hypogonadism with serious osteoporosis and biological signs of osteomalacia is described.
Tumor Necrosis Factor Inhibitors Block Apoptosis of Human Epithelial Cells of the Salivary Glands
TL;DR: It is found that cell treatment with anti‐Ro autoantibodies determines TNF‐α production that reaches a maximum at 16 h and is decreased at 24 and 48 h, which validate the therapeutic efficacy of the anti‐TNF reagents in the treatment of autoimmune disorders.
