A synthesis of atmospheric mercury depletion event chemistry in the atmosphere and snow
Alexandra Steffen,Thomas A. Douglas,Marc Amyot,Parisa A. Ariya,Katrine Aspmo,Torunn Berg,Torunn Berg,Jan W. Bottenheim,S. Brooks,F. Cobbett,Ashu Dastoor,Aurélien Dommergue,Ralf Ebinghaus,Christophe Ferrari,Katarina Gårdfeldt,Michael Evan Goodsite,David R. S. Lean,Alexandre J. Poulain,C. Scherz,Henrik Skov,Jonas Sommar,Christian Temme +21 more
TL;DR: A review of the current understanding of AMDEs from field, laboratory and modeling work, how Hg cycles around the environment after AMDE, gaps in our current knowledge and the future impacts that AMDE may have on polar environments is presented in this article.
Fluxes of reactive gaseous mercury measured with a newly developed method using relaxed eddy accumulation
Henrik Skov,S. Brooks,Michael Evan Goodsite,Steve E. Lindberg,Tilden P. Meyers,Matthew S. Landis,Michael R.B. Larsen,Bjarne Bruun Jensen,Glen McConville,Jesper H. Christensen +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the conditional sampling or relaxed eddy accumulation (REA) technique represents the first opportunity to directly measure fluxes of reactive gaseous mercury (RGM) to the snow pack in the Arctic.

Elevated mercury measured in snow and frost flowers near Arctic sea ice leads
Thomas A. Douglas,Matthew Sturm,William R. Simpson,S. Brooks,Steve E. Lindberg,Donald K. Perovich +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the same processes that produce a supersaturated environment for water vapor near sea ice leads may be instrumental in mercury deposition in arctic coastal snow and sea ice flowers near Barrow, Alaska.

Intercomparison among chamber, tower, and aircraft net CO2 and energy fluxes measured during the Arctic System Science Land-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (ARCSS-LAII) Flux Study
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of chamber, tower, and aircraft-based measurements of net ecosystem CO 2 exchange (NEE) and energy balance was conducted in the arctic tundra ecosystems during the 1994-1995 growing seasons.

Springtime atmospheric mercury speciation in the McMurdo, Antarctica coastal region
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe springtime atmospheric mercury speciation and snow pack mercury concentration measurements in the McMurdo/Ross Island sea ice region of Antarctica and conclude that marine halogens, released by the freezing sea surface, induce localized mercury depletion events.
