Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the mediating role of psychological empowerment and the moderating role of self-construal (independent and interdependent) on the relationship between transformational leadership and employees’ innovative work behavior (IWB). Design/methodology/approach – A total of 639 followers and 87 leaders filled out questionnaires from cross-industry sample of five most innovative companies of China. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relations. Findings – Results revealed that psychological empowerment mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and IWB. The research established that transformational leadership positively influences IWB which includes idea generation as well as idea implementation. The results also showed that the relationship between transformational leadership and IWB was stronger among employees with a higher interdependent self-construal and a lower independent self-construal. Transformational leadership and innovative work behavior

The ability to foresee, anticipate, and plan for future desired outcomes is crucial for well-being, motivation, and behavior. However, theories in organizational psychology do not incorporate time-related constructs such as Future Time Perspective (FTP), and research on FTP remains disjointed and scattered, with different domains focusing on different aspects of the construct, using different measures, and assessing different antecedents and consequences. In this review and meta-analysis, we aim to clarify the FTP construct, advance its theoretical development, and demonstrate its importance by (a) integrating theory and empirical findings across different domains of research to identify major outcomes and antecedents of FTP, and (b) empirically examining whether and how these variables are moderated by FTP measures and dimensions. Results of a meta-analysis of k = 212 studies reveal significant relationships between FTP and major classes of consequences (i.e., those related to achievement, well-being, health behavior, risk behavior, and retirement planning), and between antecedents and FTP, as well as moderating effects of different FTP measures and dimensions. Highlighting the importance of FTP for organizational psychology theories, our findings demonstrate that FTP predicts these outcomes over and above the big five personality traits and mediates the associations between these personality traits and outcomes. Crafting the Change: The Role of Employee Job Crafting Behaviors for Successful Organizational Change:

El presente trabajo de investigacion de tipo aplicado toma los conceptos de los estilos de liderazgo transformacional y transaccional, y el desempeno laboral, con el objetivo de establecer las relaciones de influencia de ambos estilos de liderazgo con el desempeno laboral. Para alcanzarlo, se recolecto la informacion acerca de los estilos de liderazgo de 7 gerentes de Mabe, empresa multinacional dedicada a la fabricacion de electrodomesticos de linea blanca, para lo cual se utilizo el MLQ (Cuestionario de Liderazgo Multifactorial); y se obtuvo tambien por medio de una evaluacion global de desempeno, la informacion acerca del nivel de cumplimiento de los objetivos de los 40 colaboradores que hacen parte de la linea directa de los gerentes evaluados. 
 
Esta informacion se proceso y se estudio realizando analisis estadisticos descriptivos, dentro de los cuales se examino el comportamiento de los componentes del liderazgo transformacional y del liderazgo transaccional en los gerentes evaluados, y la calificacion de desempeno de los colaboradores que le reportan directamente a estos gerentes para entender el nivel de cumplimiento de los objetivos; y posteriormente se efectuaron analisis relacionales de tipo bivariado para identificar, tanto la relacion entre los componentes de los estilos de liderazgo transformacional y transaccional mostrados en los gerentes con el desempeno laboral de los colaboradores, como la relacion entre los estilos de liderazgo transformacional y transaccional con el desempeno laboral. 
 
Dentro de los principales resultados se obtuvo que los dos estilos de liderazgo estan presentes en los gerentes de la muestra y ambos producen el cumplimiento satisfactorio del desempeno, sin embargo, se observa lo que indica la teoria referente a la relacion de los estilos de liderazgo transformacional y transaccional con el desempeno laboral, evidenciando que el liderazgo transformacional es percibido en mayor proporcion por aquellos colaboradores que exceden en su desempeno de manera parcial o total siendo la motivacion inspiracional y la estimulacion intelectual los componentes que mas influyen; mientras que el estilo de liderazgo transaccional se presenta con mayor frecuencia influenciando a aquellos colaboradores que cumplen en su desempeno de acuerdo a lo esperado, siendo la recompensa contingente el componente que mas influye en la relacion.

A meta-analysis of the regulatory focus nomological network: Work-related antecedents and consequences

This research examined a proposed mediated model of safety attitudes and perceived organizational support in affecting safety outcomes in a population of nurses within a West Texas community hospital. Participants completed questionnaires pertaining to the aforementioned measures, and supervisors were solicited to complete a questionnaire pertaining to safety behaviors of subordinates within their respective departments. Data analysis revealed significant correlations among safety attitudes and perceived organizational support but failed to show support for a mediated model. Explanations as to why hypotheses were not supported are discussed, as well as avenues for future research.

Background

The impact of sleep deprivation on neurocognitive performance is a significant concern to both the health of patients and to the physicians caring for them, as demonstrated by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education enforced resident work hours. This study examined the effects of an overnight call at a level 1 trauma hospital on neurocognitive performance of faculty anesthesiologists.



Methods

Eleven faculty anesthesiologists completed a series of computerized tests that were designed to evaluate different areas of neurocognition, such as working memory, verbal learning, and concentration. The anesthesiologists completed the tests following an overnight call in the morning at 6:30 and again following a normal night's rest at 6:30 on a different date.



Results

Within-subjects, repeated measures analysis of variance revealed a significant difference on post-call vs. control performance on measures of learning and memory (P = 0.04). However, there were no significant differences on performance on measures of working memory or sustained attention and vigilance. Pre-call vs. control performances were also evaluated, but no significant differences were detected.



Conclusions

Following a night call shift, performance on learning and memory was significantly reduced. Other areas were not significantly affected, which may have been due to certain possibilities, such as practice effect or variability in the call shifts. The real-world relevance of the decline in performance on these measures remains unclear.
