MicroRNA-21 is immunosuppressive and pro-metastatic via separate mechanisms
Lap Hing Chi,Ryan S Cross,Richard P. Redvers,Melissa J. Davis,Soroor Hediyeh-Zadeh,Suresh Mathivanan,Monisha Samuel,Erin Lucas,Kellie A. Mouchemore,Philip A. Gregory,Cameron N. Johnstone,Rob Anderson +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated miR-21's contribution to mammary tumour growth and metastasis in tumours with capacity for spontaneous metastasis, and they found that suppression of miR21 activity in highly metastatic tumours resulted in regression of primary tumor growth in immunocompetent mice.
HER2 chimeric antigen receptor T cell immunotherapy is an effective treatment for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
Stacie Shiqi Wang,Alexander J Davenport,Melinda Iliopoulos,Hannah E. Hughes-Parry,Katherine A. Watson,Valeria Arcucci,Matthias Mulazzani,David D. Eisenstat,Jordan R. Hansford,Ryan S Cross,Misty R. Jenkins +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used cell surface mass spectrometry to detect high HER2 cell surface protein across a panel of patient-derived DIPG cells, thereby identifying an existing CAR T cell therapy for use in DIPGs.
Human EGFRvIII chimeric antigen receptor T cells demonstrate favorable safety profile and curative responses in orthotopic glioblastoma
Rebecca C. Abbott,Melinda Iliopoulos,Katherine A. Watson,Valeria Arcucci,Margareta Go,Hannah E. Hughes-Parry,Pete Smith,Melissa J. Call,Ryan S Cross,Misty R. Jenkins +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a de novo generated, high-affinity EGFRvIII-specific CAR; GCT02, demonstrating curative efficacy in human orthotopic glioblastoma models.

Synthetic biology, genetic circuits and machine learning: a new age of cancer therapy
Ryan S Cross,Misty R. Jenkins +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors explored how induction of noncanonical signalling pathways and sophisticated synthetic gene circuitry can enhance the antitumour phenotype of engineered T cells and showed that non-naturally occurring combinations of signalling motifs derived from various immune receptors and arranged as a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) drove unique signal transduction pathways in T cells.

A combined immunopeptidomics, proteomics, and cell surface proteomics approach to identify immunotherapy targets for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
Kirti Pandey,Stacie Shiqi Wang,Nicole A. Mifsud,Pouya Faridi,Alexander J Davenport,Andrew I. Webb,Jarrod J. Sandow,Rochelle Ayala,Michelle Monje,Ryan S Cross,Sri H. Ramarathinam,Misty R. Jenkins,Anthony W. Purcell +12 more
TL;DR: The results of this study provide a valuable resource for the scientific community to accelerate immunotherapeutic approaches for DIPG, and could open up new avenues for treating this devastating disease.
