A case for hypothalamic acromegaly: a clinicopathological study of six patients with hypothalamic gangliocytomas producing growth hormone-releasing factor.
Sylvia L. Asa,Bernd W. Scheithauer,Juan M. Bilbao,Éva Horváth,Ryan N,K. Kovacs,Randall Rv,Edward R. Laws,William Singer,John A. Linfoot +9 more
TL;DR: The presence of hptGRF-40 in neurons of these gangliocytomas supports the theory that GRF excess is the mechanism responsible for over-production of GH and provides evidence for a syndrome of hypothalamic acromegaly.

Ectopic ACTH syndrome: clinicopathological correlations.
TL;DR: The ectopic ACTH syndrome was diagnosed ante mortem in only four out of 10 patients on the basis of hypokalaemia and metabolic alkalosis, a surprising finding, which may be due to the different nature of ACTH present in tumour tissue.

Immunocytochemical localization of synaptophysin in human hypophyses and pituitary adenomas
L. Stefaneanu,Ryan N,K. Kovacs +2 more
TL;DR: Although SYP cannot be used as a general marker to identify specifically pituitary cells or adenomas, its demonstration may be helpful in immunocytochemical characterization of some null cell adanomas.

Immunohistochemical localization of neuron-specific enolase in the human hypophysis and pituitary adenomas.
TL;DR: Neuron-specific enolase was found in all pituitary adenoma types; there was no correlation between degree of granularity or differentiation of tumor cells and intensity of NSE immunopositivity.
