Comparison of FR4 and Roger substrates in multiband two-slot rectangular patch antenna for 5G applications

A novel mm-Wave multiband microstrip patch antenna for 5G wireless communication is designed and presented in this paper. The proposed design is an H-shaped with inset feed and a rectangular slit in the upper side of the radiating patch. The 5G mm-Wave antenna resonates at frequencies of 23.2, 40.3, 59.3, 86.9 and 104.3 GHz with a maximum bandwidth of 1.1, 2.8, 18.1, 7.7 and 10.7 GHz respectively. The antenna has sufficient realized gains of 6.4882, 7.1198, 7.9062, 8.1804 and 9.8156 dBi at the resonant frequencies respectively. Furthermore, the antenna covers the most interest 5G mm-Wave spectrum with a total bandwidth of 40.4 GHz. The proposed multiband antenna is designed using microstrip technology with features such as light weight, low cost, low profile, high gain and efficiency. The 5G antenna is designed using a high frequency structure simulator software (HFSS). It has a small form factor of 7.5 × 8.5 × 0.55 mm3. The antenna is compact enough to incorporate into smart devices and used for various 5G applications.

Multiband Microstrip Patch Antenna Operating at Five Distinct 5G mm-Wave Bands

In the recent days, wireless communication has established in a popular increased rate. The antenna prototype is having numerous band abilities which can be used in various many wireless technologies. The proposed double operating band patch antenna in the field of 5G/WLAN/WiMAX communication. In this paper, FR4 has been used as a substrate material with relative permittivity, $\mathcal{E}\mathrm{r}=4.2$ as whose thickness is mm. The planned double operating band antenna is simulated and analyzed using HFSS software. The planned antenna has very high isolation in the field of MIMO systems and due to miniaturized size ( $17.56\text{mm}\times 12.56\text{mm}$ ) it is suitable to use in mobile phone. The analysis shows that reflection coefficient of the proposed antenna is having less than −10 dB, better gain and good bandwidth using miniaturized size of the antenna.

Multi-band Narrow Strip Antenna for 5G/WLAN/WiMAX Wireless Communication

Achieving antenna size reduction while maintaining high efficiency and multiband characteristics with wide bandwidths across all the operating frequency bands is highly demanded and challenging in microstrip antennas. A novel compact triband quasi-rho-shaped and cost-effective antenna is designed on a 7 × 7 × 1 mm3 FR4 substrate having a permittivity of 4.4 and a loss tangent of 0.02. With an electrical size of 0.39λ0 × 0.39λ0 × 0.056λ0, where λ0 is the free space wavelength at 16.84 GHz, a circular slot and asymmetric microstrip feed are used to achieve the desires performance. The proposed antenna is designed, simulated, and optimized using high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) software, and its prototype is fabricated to validate its electromagnetic performance. Furthermore, an equivalent circuit is proposed using the Foster canonical model. The proposed antenna exhibits a maximum stable gain of 5.32 dB and an average radiation efficiency of 77.87% in all the operating frequency bands. The measurement results show that the antenna covers (16.84–18.15 GHz), (24.78–27.40 GHz), and (34.47–37.22 GHz) bands centred at 17.39 GHz, 25.98 GHz, and 35.83 GHz, respectively, with a minimum wide bandwidth (S11 ≤ −10 dB) of 1.31 GHz. The acquired results illustrate that the quasi-rho-shaped antenna is suitable for military radars and 5G applications. 

Asymmetric‐fed triband antenna for military radars and 5G applications using microstrip technology

The current paper reports on the crystal structure, microwave dielectric properties as well as the antenna parameters of (1-x)MgTiO3 - xSrTiO3 (abbreviated as (1-x)MT- xST) for x = 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1 ceramic based dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs). The (1-x) MT - xST samples have been prepared with the help of a solid-state reaction route. The SrTiO3 was introduced to MgTiO3 as a τf compensator for developing a tunable τf material. Rietveld refinement results of X-ray diffraction data suggest that all the samples exhibit a combination of two crystallographic phases i.e., rhombohedral (R-3) + cubic (Pm-3m). The SEM micrographs show clear and well-defined grains for (1-x)MT - xST (for x = 0.025 - 0.1) ceramics. The modes of vibration of the crystal structures of the materials have been identified by the Raman spectroscopy method. The bond strength, bond valency, bond energy, and tolerance factor have been determined for (1-x)MT - xST (for x = 0.025 - 0.1) materials. The microwave dielectric performances of ceramics have been analyzed over a frequency band of 1-10GHz. It has been found that the dielectric constant is almost constant along the microwave frequency range. The behavioral change of tuned temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τf) along with quality factor have been reported. Besides, DRAs have been formed using all ceramic compositions, and simulations were performed to determine the various antenna properties, such as efficiency, input impedance, radiation properties, gain, and reflection coefficient. This study supports the use of microwave dielectric ceramics in antenna fields and highlights the enormous potential of (1-x)MT - xST for (x=0.05) materials in communication systems. 

Structure property correlation of (1-x)MgTiO3 - xSrTiO3 microwave dielectric ceramics for dielectric resonator antenna applications

In this paper, design of multiband MIMO antenna by using patch and slot modification is proposed. The MIMO multiband antenna design uses the addition and modification of patch and slot shapes to obtain antenna performance in several frequency bands. In a previous study, the multiband antenna design only used the method of adding patches or slots separately. In this research, we tried to combine the addition of patches and slots together. The antenna design uses the substrate material Rogers RT5880 with a dielectric constant (er ) 2.2 and height 0.787 mm. The dimensions of the MIMO multiband antenna developed by this study are 42.90 × 14.89 mm. Simulation and measurement results show that this MIMO antenna can work on several millimeter-wave frequency bands, 24 GHz, 28 GHz and 38 GHz. These results prove that the development of design techniques by adding patches and slots to microstrip antennas can produce antennas that work in several frequency bands.
