A computational theory of decision networks
TL;DR: This paper introduces a notion of decision networks that further explore decision variables'' independencies of random variables and other decision variables and drops the semantic constraints of total ordering of decisions and of one value node, and shows that stepwise-decomposable decision networks can be evaluated by considering one decision at a time.

A New Method for Influence Diagram Evaluation
Runping Qi,David Poole +1 more
- 01 May 1993
TL;DR: This article presents a new, two‐phase method for influence diagram evaluation, which takes advantage of asymmetry in influence diagrams to avoid unnecessary computation and generates a much smaller decision graph for the same influence diagram.

Solving asymmetric decision problems with influence diagrams
Runping Qi,Lianwen Zhang,David Poole +2 more
- 29 Jul 1994
TL;DR: This paper presents an approach for avoiding unnecessary computation in influence diagram evaluation when a symmetrized influence diagram is evaluated by conventional algorithms.

Solving Asymmetric Decision Problems with Influence Diagrams
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an approach for avoiding unnecessary computation in influence diagram evaluation, which avoids the need for a symmetric decision problem to be represented in an influence diagram, which may result in a considerable amount of unnecessary computation.
