Optimization of cooling structures in gas turbines: A review
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the state-of-the-art works on film cooling and internal cooling structures in gas turbines by means of various optimization methods.
51
Influence of secondary hole injection angle on enhancement of film cooling effectiveness with horn-shaped or cylindrical primary holes
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of primary hole shape and injection angle on film cooling with primary and secondary hole injection were investigated. But the authors focused on the effect of the secondary hole shape.
25
Film cooling performance and flow structure of single-hole and double-holes with swirling jet
TL;DR: In this article, a numerical study of the effects of swirling flow in coolant jets on film cooling performance is presented. And the results show that film cooling effectiveness is improved with jet swirl at high blowing ratios.
12
Experimental investigation and numerical analysis on effects of swirling coolant on flow characteristics and film cooling performance
TL;DR: In this paper , film cooling effectiveness of one row and two rows of holes with and without swirling coolant was measured using pressure sensitive paint (PSP) and numerical simulations were performed to analyze the flow structures.
11
Comparisons on flow characteristics and film cooling performance of cylindrical and sister holes with/without internal coolant crossflow
TL;DR: In this article , the influence of internal coolant crossflow of a novel film cooling hole design, called "sister holes" and a baseline cylindrical hole were performed with an established turbulence model, and the results showed that sister holes can provide better film cooling performance than the baseline case at three blowing ratios.
