NMR characterization of the structure of a β-(1→3)-d-glucan isolate from cultured fruit bodies of Sparassis crispa
Rui Tada,Toshie Harada,Noriko Nagi-Miura,Yoshiyuki Adachi,Mitsuhiro Nakajima,Toshiro Yadomae,Naohito Ohno +6 more
TL;DR: The data reveal that SCG but not SPG induce cytokine production from bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) and their major structural units are a beta-1-->3)-d-glucan backbone with single beta-(1-->6)-d -glucosyl side branching units every three residues.

The Dual Activity Responsible for the Elongation and Branching of β-(1,3)-Glucan in the Fungal Cell Wall.
Vishukumar Aimanianda,Catherine Simenel,Cecile Garnaud,Cécile Clavaud,Rui Tada,Lise Barbin,Isabelle Mouyna,Christoph Heddergott,Laura Popolo,Yoshikazu Ohya,Muriel Delepierre,Jean-Paul Latgé +11 more
TL;DR: The β-(1,3)-glucan branching mechanism is unravels, a phenomenon occurring during construction of the cell wall which is essential for fungal life and suggests that enzymes involved in the glucan branching could be exploited as antifungal targets.

Barley-derived β-d-glucan induces immunostimulation via a dectin-1-mediated pathway
Rui Tada,Futoshi Ikeda,Kosuke Aoki,Masashi Yoshikawa,Yuya Kato,Yoshiyuki Adachi,Asuka Tanioka,Ken-ichi Ishibashi,Kazufumi Tsubaki,Naohito Ohno +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicated that the immunostimulatory effects of barley-derived beta-d-glucan might be exerted, at least in part, via dectin-1.

Intranasal Immunization with DOTAP Cationic Liposomes Combined with DC-Cholesterol Induces Potent Antigen-Specific Mucosal and Systemic Immune Responses in Mice.
Rui Tada,Akira Hidaka,Naoko Iwase,Saeko Takahashi,Yuki Yamakita,Tomoko Iwata,Shoko Muto,Emi Sato,Noriko Takayama,Emi Honjo,Hiroshi Kiyono,Jun Kunisawa,Yukihiko Aramaki +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that intranasal administration of a cationic liposome composed of 1,2-dioleoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane (DOTAP) and 3β-[N-(N',N'-dimethylaminoethane)-carbamoyl] (DC-chol) (DotAP/DC- chol liposomes) has a potent mucosal adjuvant effect in mice.
Binding capacity of a barley β-D-glucan to the β-glucan recognition molecule dectin-1
TL;DR: It was found that barley beta-glucan can be recognized by dectin-1, implying that barleybeta-glUCan might, at least in part, exhibit its biological effects via the recognition by deCTin- 1 of the ligand sugar structure, which may be formed by 1,3-beta- and 1,4-beta,glucosyl linkage.
