Bioactive compounds from the seeds of Punica granatum (pomegranate).
TL;DR: Two new compounds were isolated from the seeds of Punica granatum (pomegranate) together with five known compounds, which exhibited antioxidant activity, which was evaluated by measurement of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) susceptibility to oxidation and by determination in vitro of malondialdehyde levels in the rat brain.

Kinetic difference of berberine between hippocampus and plasma in rat after intravenous administration of Coptidis rhizoma extract.
TL;DR: The pharmacokinetic characteristics of berberine in rat hippocampus and the kinetic characteristics of Berberine are dissimilar in the hippocampus and plasma are first showed.

- 01 Jan 2010
TL;DR: In the present review, the research on pomegranate as to chemical constituents, bioactivities and pharmacokinetics in combination with the recent publications is reported and the biosynthetic pathways of major compounds were discussed based on the research results and those reported in the literatures.
The antidepressant effect of ethanol extract of radix puerariae in mice exposed to cerebral ischemia reperfusion.
TL;DR: The data suggested that the disturbance of NE and DA systems in hippocampus and striatum played more important roles in the development of depressive-like behavior of CIR mice than 5-HT system did, and RP extract ameliorated the abnormal symptoms caused by CIR, which may throw new lights on the treatment of poststroke depression.
