Transient warming affects potency of cryopreserved cord blood units
Roya Pasha,A Howell,Tracey R. Turner,Mike Halpenny,Heidi Elmoazzen,Jason P. Acker,Nicolas Pineault +6 more
TL;DR: Although TWEs are almost inevitable during cord-blood banking operations, their effects must be diminished by reducing exposure time, using cold plates and strict operational protocols, to prevent worst-case T WEs.

Contamination of platelet concentrates with Staphylococcus aureus induces significant modulations in platelet functionality
TL;DR: Contamination with S. aureus exacerbates platelet storage lesions in contaminated PCs but only when the bacterium has reached clinically significant levels.

AA2P-mediated DNA demethylation synergizes with stem cell agonists to promote expansion of hematopoietic stem cells
Suria Jahan,Tanvir Hasan,Roya Pasha,Chelsea Mcgregor,Josée Laganière,Julie Audet,Nicolas Pineault +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that SCACs provide strong growth-promoting activities while promoting retention and function of immature HSPC and it is demonstrated that GAS6 enhances the serial engraftment activity of HSPCs and show that the GAS6/AXL pathway is critical for robust HSPC expansion.

Overcoming the deceptively low viability of CD45+ cells in thawed cord blood unit segments.
TL;DR: The objective of this work was to improve the post‐thaw staining method to maximizeCD45+ cell viability so that clinically valuable samples meet the NetCord‐FACT threshold criteria for CD45+ and CD34+ cell viabilities.

GAS6 Promotes Robust Expansion of Human Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells with High Serial Engraftment Activity
Harinad Maganti,Javed Karim Manesia,Tanvir-ul Hasan,Chelasea Mcgregor,Roya Pasha,David S. Allan,Julie Audet,Nicolas Pineault +7 more
TL;DR: In this article , a series of stem cell agonist cocktails (SCACs) composed of varying concentrations of 4 SCAs were formulated to promote robust expansion of HSPCs including AXL and GAS6.
